"Old Knives"

Thanks guys for the comments on the knives I've been posting. To me this is like a knife show, show and tell. When I lived back east in PA I would go to 3 to 5 knife shows a year and the people I would meet there, some of which are on this forum and AAPK forum, would bring our show and tell knives to share and possibly trade. I really miss that because the closest knife show is Oregon and I have not gotten there yet, maybe this year. So this is my show and tell! Thanks again for all those that take the time to show there knives.

Gev, here is the twin to the Catt and the etch is the same but much clearer. View attachment 822419
Just look at that magnificence !!! A gem indeed. It's just a treat to get to see such fine cutlery and craft. Your presentations are inspiring. The little injun piece is spectacular . The bone on that Hunter is cream Catt. Thanks so much for the look !! These are the kind of things that keep me energized and coming back for more !!

Thank you for your "show and tell" :)

Thank you Jack and a happy new year to you too my friend.
Whew - it’has been hectic- the last 4 or 5 days working solid in Sues Care as the paintwork was shot- so I took what spare time I will ever get- which is my holidays lol and stripped down and repainted the Roof, bonnet - and boot lid
So my first free day and I took a few knife photos- of which I rarely find time to do these days.
Posts to follow :)

Gev- I am very lucky to have Paul as my post master!:)

For the life of me I cannot recall where I saw a post with a Sears with the Stamping of Prussia on the Knife- I thoiught that was great because I have never seen a Sears Knife with Prussia, Goins has that particular stamping listed as c 1883 - 1897, Levenes ed 4 does not have this stamp listed.
I was curious as I knew I had an older Sears Grand-daddy Barlow so I dug it out to investigate ...
This old Barlow has a semi circular stamping of Henry Sears ( you can make out half of it ) and underneath MFG. Co, well at least most of it anyway, this stamping is c 1873 - 1883-, it seems to be an earlier Sears- and what a Grand Old beast this massive knife is!
Walk and Talk are still to this day superb- not bad for a knife well over 100 years old- the Blade does touch the Liner upon closing- but hey...if Im touching anything at around 130 years old I will be doing pretty well!

Beauty NYKC Hammer Gev! I'm at work now but I think I have this same exact knife sitting by my keyboard at home waiting in line for the next "photo shoot" :) If it is a look alike, do I have to include a riff with the pictures? ;)

Gevonovich Gevonovich

So the knife I mentioned earlier is similar to your NYKC but not, LoL. Mine is a Schrade Cut Co... not sure what body style you would call this one, a serpentine teardrop?

There once was a man with a Schrade
who started out whittling one day
he carved, picked and shred
too much, now instead
the wood whittled completely away ;)

Yes Sir. Serpentine Jack and it has a wonderful teardrop bolster. Collectors have many names for some patterns. Here is a link to a pretty good guide

@waynorth started a pattern guide some time ago too

And....lord have mercy that's a beauty :eek::D:thumbsup:

VP- Great job on the cleanup and I'm really loving that serpentine teardrop!!! The only other time I had seen that pattern was on a Blue Grass Winchester.
