"Old Knives"

Dayam!!!! Augie...as others have commented- nice to see a genuine early India Steel works Primble, gorgeous old knife my friend.

Mike matey- Wow- an Ulster to be proud of, I know a good Author who could use that in his next book ;)
By the way I love your book " Gun Traders Guide to Collectible Knives" Fantastic !

Picked up a couple of Ulsters recently.
3-1/2” celluloid Ulster cattle salesman. Number MK 35UK on back side. It's from Schrade factory collection.

Mike, geogeous knife, what I find really interesting is the inked catalog number on the knife. It sure looks a lot like the markings on this set of Ulster Barlows I recently picked up from Charlie at the Rendezvous.

Cool Ulster Mike! I had often questioned the authenticity of this Ulster below but now seeing yours I'm pretty sure it is original. The plastic handles just feel odd compared to any other Ulster's I have but the f&f is really good despite being used a ton. Thanks for posting yours!

Thanks Duncan. I have said it before but you are too kind!

That’s a great brace of barlows Augie. The handwriting does look similar!

Thanks Kevin. Sure looks like they have the same stamp.

Thanks Mike!
The Handwriting looks bang on, I copied both photos and put them side by side, the wee loop at the top of the 3 stands out as a perfect match!
Great knives guys!

Beautiful knives everyone! Thanks for posting photos and sharing your valuable insights.

Here are a few folding hunters I have acquired recently. First photo top to bottom is a HSB OVB, Camillus and a Winchester. The HSB (obviously NYKC made) is certainly pre 1931, the Camillus dates to around 1915-1918 and the Winchester is circa 1938.E5B37AC3-790C-4E55-BD87-4F9D9E5EA6E1.jpeg 49D89FA3-8BBE-4601-8B8D-30CF69054D8A.jpeg

Lloyd!! Bringing out the Heavy Metal eh my friend?

Thank you for doing so...Beauties the Three of them!!!!
I almost need to apologise as I cannot decide either the Camillus or the NYK I like the best, and this is not to take anything away from that gorgeous Winchester!
Kinda a cool shield on the NYK although I like the Camillus shield that much better, ...............................my eyes just keep going back to that gorgeous Camillus!! Wow!

Thanks Mike!

Thanks Duncan. Maybe from the same display board then!

That’s a power trio of hunters Lloyd. My vote is for the NYK but just barely.

Rachel, Kevin, Jak, Justin, all great old knives, pleasure to see!

Picked up this early John Primble India Steel Works 4 1/2" English Jack with worn smooth stag and pitting on the metal, still has good snap and no play on the worn blades. I think it dates from the late 1800's with what research I have been able to do and was probably made in Sheffield.

Ooohhh!! Aaaahhh!! What a brilliant collection of that iconic pattern, Lloyd!!

Great knives I love the inked ones the best of course!!

Nice looking CATCO knife. What is the size of the knife and what is the significance of the 3C marking? Thanks. John

Sorry it took so long to answer the question of the size of the knife but work gets in the way of my fun sometimes. Knife is 4 3/8" closed. I'll take pictures of the tang stamps that I have an will include the 3C one

Beautiful old Ulster Jack Herder! Fabulous condition and that Shield is pretty cool too my friend.
That knife looks as though it was never used!

Thanks Campbellclanman. I've been out of touch for a bit and it's wonderful to see so many unique knives shown in a constant procession.
