"Old Knives"

Jeff, Paul, couple of nice knives, really like those cell Schrade Cut Co's.

Picked up a Hibbard Spencer&Bartlett easy open jack with a fat spear in mint condition. I have the same pattern in a Camillus and the HSB is a dead ringer other than the bone, I find early Camillus bone can be many different jigging patterns, I think I have 5 early Camillus knives now and not one has the same jigging.

WOW! Outstanding EO's Augie! That you put the HSB and Camillus side by side helps confirm a suspicion of mine. I have this HSB daddy barlow that looks allot like a Camillus #9, except all the pics I find of the #9 the cover pins are slightly different. But now I'm reasonably sure it is made by Camillus, after all if they was contracted for those awesome EO's why not the barlows tooo_O

Thank you all for the kind comments:thumbsup:

Love being able to compare the 2 knives and note all the similarities, pin location and size, large shield which Camillus was known for at the time, blade finishes match exactly, mark side main blade polished, pile side matt, both sides pen blade matt, pretty much exactly the same knife. The knives even share the same fault, main blade is not centered, both almost touch the liner on the same side.

Being the number of hardware store knives out there in this time period I always like when we can attribute a knife to a certain maker.

This Ulster Knife USA arrived today, and I'm smitten! Perfect bone, excellent W&T, full blades with moderate patina, tight and beautiful.
Only the one tang stamp, no model number, but it's 3.73" closed, so full sized. Any info on age or model number would be greatly appreciated.

Very nice ! Looks to be the same pattern as the WW2 US Army Air Corp Utility knives.

Thanks, SteveC, I thought the same. Worth about 20% or less than the AAC knives, but I like the pattern. Do you think it was made shortly after the war, or later in the 1950s?

Can't say for sure, it might even be wartime production. Brass or steel liners ?
