Old videos

Bob, you aren't seeing the embedded videos?

*I'll start putting the links in as well- don't think I read close enough earlier.

Bob, you aren't seeing the embedded videos? . . .
Correct.

For whatever reason the BB Code "Youtube" does not function for me:

Thanks,

Bob

Anyone know why the "Youtube" code is not working for me?

Correct...

Thanks,

Bob

Anyone know where the "Youtube" code comes from?

Roger that.

I copy the video id into [ Youtube] id [ /Youtube] and it seems to embed the video.

If there is an auto generate that works in this forum, I can't seem to find it.

Have you ever been able to see embedded videos in the forums or it a recent issue?

I'm not sure whether we need Flash Player to use youtube or see to it in a format that the forum understands. If we do, maybe you can try updating it?

This thread is the first I've had trouble, so it is recent. I've always posted by inserting the URL in the text or use the "Insert Video" function in the editor.

Thanks,

Bob

ETA: I posted in the Tech Support forum for an answer. Enough said here I think.:)

I think some of the scenes from others posted came from this one.

"Allison Logging

Logging on British Columbia's Central Coast.
I am Angus Allison, grandson to AP Allison. I am a graduate forester and I will be providing comment for the film you are about to view."

Angus Allison's father makes a cameo appearance in the film.:)

Logging & Lumberjacks: Trees and Men: Timber is a Crop circa 1945 Weyerhaeuser

That high climber is swinging his axe awfully close to his own rope. One glancing blow would lead to tragedy.

First time I have seen the tool used for putting the grooves in the boards:

I'm gonna have to get me one of them hornyolos! :D

It's a cool video. Just damned impressive work! I like how he works so instinctively, sometimes not even measuring. Cutting without the use of a square. A carpenter gains these skills by repetition.

This reminds of a day when I was teaching a young framer 20 years ago. The damn kid couldn't cut straight with a skilsaw and a speed square. I got frustrated and handed him my saw and told him to set the table to 5°. Then I picked up a 2x4 and without marking a square line proceeded to make a perfectly square cut, instinctively compensating for the table being set off 5°. I handed him the board and told him every one of his future cuts better be at least that good. If it ain't, re-cut it. He soon started paying attention and making square cuts.

We need an interpreter app that will translate these films into the language of the viewer. We lose so much getting only the video and not the audio.
