Old videos

Forgive me if this is a repost. I don’t see it in this thread but I’m sure you are all aware of how awesome Roy Underhill’s Woodwright’ Shop is. He is like the Bob Ross of woodcraft.

In this beautiful episode he talks about tools like the axe and saw, the philosophy of craftsmanship in woodworking, and “Thoreau’s search for moral lessons deep in the grain of wood”.

He talks about the axe right Away but the whole thing is awesome!
He has so many cool references in this video. Here is just a partial list:
• Star Wars (light saber)
• Monty Python and the Holy Grail (scimitar line)
• Ram Dass (Be here now)
• Zen and the Art of Archery (later found to be a hoax, but spawned the title for Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance)
• The Wheelwright's Shop
• Thoreau (simplicity behind the complexity)
• Annie Dillard - pilgrim at tinker creek
• David Pye - The Nature and Craft of Workmanship
• GK Chesterton
• Zen Koan (sound of one hand clapping)
• RL Sharpe - Stepping Stone
• Robert Merton - Law of Unintended Consequences
• Señor Wences (puppets, s'alright)
• Bill Murray Caddy Shack

He is brilliant!
