Hello@FNHerstal, I apologize. I been tied up for awhile. It looks like you have a nice 506 ranch hand and 610 stag folder. Even though it is marked 510. Olsen never stamped the stag handle folders 610. The 610 would vary in price depending on overall condition and if it has a sheath and original box with paper work . Thanks Brian
This is built like a Tank.
Hello, I've inherited this Olsen Stag handle knife from my father several years ago. It has "OLSEN KNIFE CO. SOLINGEN GERMANY" stamped on the blade and "Made in Germany" stamped on the sheath. I'd like to know approximate manufactured date and value.Just throwing this out there .If anyone has any questions about Olsen OK knives feel free to ask . I will answer to the best of my ability. I have been collecting Olsen's for about 20 + years and have a nice collection of knives plus paperwork and research . If i don't know i will say so .
Resurrecting this old thread as it is an excellent source for reference and eye candy. Hoping to get input from Brian (Itsmebsh) and I thought it would be of interest to others as well so ideal to put here. Brian, I owe you a personal call as I’m finally getting my feet planted again after some personal upheaval. But here I am back to MY interests.
Anyway, as noted previously, Olsen made knives for a number of other parties including: Herter’s, Fred Bear, LL Bean, Colt, maybe Orvis and Fur Long. Brian since your book has yet to hit the market (hint, hint!), do you have any idea how many knives may have been made for these various other brands? I was pondering this specific to Fur Long but interested in the others as well. Also curious if you may know how long Fur Long or the Herter’s trophy series versions were actually produced?
Glad to be back!! Rob
B BroncoRob , I don’t know the number of knives produced for the various companies. Other than what I’ve read or been told on a couple of them. They claim that very few were made for Colt, like maybe 500 of each of the 3 sizes. But I think maybe a few more, just my opinion. @Neelymoto,hello. Sounds like they are both from the Master Sculpture line . The one that is marked Sportsman knife was one that was made for Johnny Morris of Bass Pro Shops when he first started. The knives that they still had in inventory they just buffed off his signature that was above Sportsman knife to be sold. You should be able to see were they took it off. The other one was just made a little laterGreetings,
New member here looking for some info on 2 recently acquired Olsen fillet knifes that I have not seen and cannot find online.
They are 11 inches in length with a 6 inch blade, wood handle with brass guard and butt, and a pewter game scene handle inset.
One blade is marked “Sportsman Knife” and one is not. No Olsen markings on either knife but obviously Olsen made and both have Olsen quality leather sheaths with flap covers and Olsen marked snaps.
Trying to find a photo hosting service to post images..
Sound familiar to anyone?
Thanks!
N Neelymoto if you go back to page 5 of this thread you will see a pic of the Johnny Morris knife. Olsen just took the name off and put in the pewter insert. Hope this helps Brian@Neelymoto,hello.
