On Playing Wordle . . .

260 took us all 6 tries. We had the first three letters after 3 guesses, and it took us the last three guesses to get the correct combination to finish out the work

Probably could have solved this in 3 if I was still using CLOWN as the 2nd word instead of switching to STORY. Oh well . . . 🤷‍♂️

"Luck" and "whimsy" play such a large part of the game that it just doesn't pay to take the "scores" all that seriously but, of course, we do, just the same.

Not cocky, I just noticed that I was clawing my way below 4.0.
I take my time, probably 3 minutes or so on the non-obvious ones. My son flys through in about 15 seconds total and only averages a guess or so behind me. I don't know how he does it.

I play more like your son. I usually make the most obvious picks and don't take time to "study" the board.

My scores suffer for it but sometimes it doesn't matter how long you take to try to solve the puzzle because, when there are multiple possible answers, it then just comes down to whether you're "lucky" enough to pick the right one before you run out of tries.

The "death" of Wordle Archive is probably just the beginning. Any other site w/the word "Wordle" in it is almost certainly next. :(

At least I recovered 86 points of my blitz chess rating. Still a noob at that too though haha

FWIW, I've always used ADIEU as my 1st word but, for awhile, I used different words w/an O in it for the 2nd word w/o any "rhyme or reason" for chosing one O word vs another, which injected more variability and "luck" into finding the solution.

Read somewhere about using STORY as the 2nd word and I've stuck w/it with reasonable success ever since.

You can "test" how well this pair works for you using any random play Wordle game (while they still exist). ;)
