Fortunate choice of 3rd word revealed key 1st letter. Without it, there would have been at least 5 other possible answers.

Revelation of 4 letters (none green) in 1st 2 tries led to the only possible answer that occured to me.

That's the problem that I was talking about.

Just 2 many options for the 1st letter if you don't get the "right" one right away. :(

And, as I expected, ppl are already complaining on the Net about how "difficult" today's word is to solve.

It's not "difficult" but, like other words w/many possible spelling by just changing a single letter, LUCK has more to do w/your ability to sove than "logic" or intelligence does, which is why Wordle Is NOT strictly a game of "skill "

The "trick" when you get to that point is to try and guess a word with as many of the possible choices as you can, and see which one, if any, turns yellow. Like if C L and W are all options, maybe guess CLOWN and see what happens. Course if there are other options that won't all fit in one guess, you might have to do that twice.

If I solve it quickly, then I believe it is skill and intelligence. If I struggle, and especially if my son or wife beat me, then it was pure luck and probably a poor choice by the developers.

Birdie 3! :)

Only 3 letters revealed in 1st 2 tries but they were all vowels which limited the possibilities IMO to just 2 -- one common and one obscure. I chose the common one, which fortunately turned out to be the "right" one.

Only got this one in 4 tries because my lucky choice on the 3rd try revealed the 1st letter in green. Absent that, there were at least 5 possibilities: WATER, LATER, HATER, DATER or CATER. The C in CRATE led to the correct choice. Otherwise, it could have easily have been a fail, as it was for others.

All 5 letters also revealed in 2 tries w/the 1st letter in the green and only 1 possible answer. That's about as good as it gets! :)

However, it can be argued that the word is not properly spelled w/o an additional notation. Ran into the same problem in an earlier puzzle which I didn't think was properly spelled w/o the same notation and failed for that reason. :(

There's already a discussion on the Net about this issue.

Only two possibilities based on the IE ending and the still available letters -- MOVIE or MOXIE -- 50/50 chance for a Birdie 3.
