Again only 1 letter revealed w/my 2 starter words but a good 3rd word choice again let to the Par 4. The analogies between Wordle seems apt especially when I seem to be just "grinding" out Par 4s based on little/no information after the 1st 2 tries.

Wordle Bot says there was only 1 choice left after my 3rd word choice. My approach matched the NYT averages for Skill (82 vs 80) and Luck (52 vs 52). The Bot also scored 4 and the NYT average is 4.1. So, 4 was a good score for this puzzle.

As mentioned previously, just a lucky guess. SHAME was the 1st word that occured to me but my later "analysis" revealed 6 other words that I could have used and WordleBot says that there were actually 10 other words that I could have used.

Sometimes it's just better to be "lucky" than "smart." ;)

-----------------------------------

Back on track w/Quordle 82 w/a respectable 4/5/7/8.

It's a very frustrating game to say the least but the challenge is what makes it interesting. It also provides practice for playing Wordle. It also helps that I don't keep an written record of my "performance" w/Quordle as I do w/Wordle.

That would be too depressing. LOL!

Lucky?! I might agree if I wasn't on a nice string of 3s... now I've jinxed it!

Luck is the difference between 3 and 4.

"Luck" is a bigger part of Wordle than many people care to admit or acknowledge.

The fact that "luck" is built into The NYT's "Wordle Bot" as a factor for analysis is proof enough of that and, without some "luck", you'll NEVER score a 1, 2 or 3 (you can only score a 1 once, if you do, you're lying) OR, on the other hand, score any less than 5 or 6's (if you don't fail instead).

Skill and "intelligence" are a factor but NOT as much as "luck" is, especially when you're faced w/3 or more different possible words w/only one or 2 tries left on the board. LOL! ;)

A currently typical Par 4 for me. Just grinding them out using the method described below.

Wordle Bot solved it in 3 and the NYT ave was 4.2. So, 4 was still a good score.
Wordle Bot also rated my approach for Skill/Luck 81/52 vs the NYT Ave 82/55; essentially the same.

The way that Wordle Bot always seems to pick just the right followup word to minimize the # of tries is suspcious to me. πŸ€”

My 3rd word strategy has been to try to pick a word w/uncommon consonants and any letters previously revealed by my vowel dominant starter words. This approach is the only thing that has enabled me for avoid any Bogey 5's for the past 2 weeks.

While there is some skill involved, I don't take the time to analyze all possible 3rd word options, so chosing a word that will help is still based mainly on luck.

Squeaked out a win in Quordle 83 today to extend my current 2 day win "streak." LOL! 🀣

The win could have easily been a loss because the solution to the board on the 9th try was based on a 50/50 choice.
Again, just dumb luck because there was no rational basis for making the choice.

Not that hard to win in Quordle or Octordle using your son's starter words.

I've been making it tougher on myself by using my standard starter words in Quordle. The results have been mixed but I feel a greater sense of accomplishment doing it this way. It's also good practice for playing Wordle which I take more seriously.

Using those words in Octordle also always yields all 5 letters in at least 1-2 boards which then only requires some thought to solve the other 6 which I've been able to do every time ever since I started using those words in the game but Octordle is difficult enough by making it more difficult for myself. ;)

You are correct, I don't feel much accomplishment. I don't really care about quordle.
