I thought of 5 likely suspects after choosing the 3rd word but WordBot says that there actually were 15!
As I am now fond of saying, "Ignorance is bliss." LOL! ;)

Just started playing this the other day myself. 5 for me today. Really thought I had it with β€œFancy” as my #4 try!

sgt1372 sgt1372 I saw you mention playing the archives…is that accessible after saving the html for offline play?

Before the NYT shut them down, there were two Wordle Archive sites in which you could designate which games (by #) that you wanted to replay. None of the remaining Wordle variant sites allow you do to this.

I saved the game in html format both before and after the NYT bought it, so that I could play it offline but haven't actually tried to do that yet.

I think it "might" be possible to play past games using the game saved to html but you would have to change the date on your computer to play a past game because each word is linked to a specific date.

The game began on June 19, 2021 and is currently planned to end on October 27, 2027. The words used on specific dates will vary depending on whether the html you're using is pre or post NYT because the NYT has deleted at least 6 words since it acquired the game.

If you give this a try, let us know if it works or not. Thanks!

Thanks! I was just trying the powerlanguage.co.uk as a webpage save. Sort of worked, and then locked up. I’ll have to poke around a little.

I'm curious find out if everyone got the same answer for today's puzzle because the NYT practice of "word cleansing" occured again today.

They deleted a word starting with the letter "F" from the original word list and replaced it w/one starting with the letter "S."

I got the replacement "S" word

You'd only get the original word is you used an HTML version of the game before the NYT bought Wordle or if you have never "refreshed" the game that you started playing the game before the NYT acquired it.

The reason that many people playing the game have NEVER refreshed Wordle on their computers (or other devices) is because they want to keep a record of their "STREAK" and statistics which is provided at the end of each game played. I keep all of my game stats on a simple spreadsheet.

Here's the NYT's notification about the change it made today:

Pure luck to solve this in 3 because I counted at least 6 different possible solutions based on the 3 letter pattern revealed by my 2 starter words.
Just picked the 1st word that I thought of which just "happened" to be the right answer. WordleBot says there were actually 10 possible answers.
The NYT average for this puzzle is currently 3.4.

Another lucky guess, given the 15 possible answers that WordleBot said were available after the 3rd guess.
The NYT average for this puzzle was 4.1.
