On Ricasso design..

That is about the time I first heard about it, were there not other knives in the event?

There were, but the severed digits in this case brought a halt to the "competition". I was told that the individual in question did not lose the fingers, but suffered severely compromised use of them.

Maybe...

I'd like to see the knife too. Did you "flinch" your hand open when the tip slipped? Was there a dropped edge on the blade? Did you have a delicate or firm hold on the handle? What ratio was the length of the ricasso compared to the width of your finger? How about a picture of the scar? :D

To use Roger's analogy, design wise I would liken it to being in a head on collision without a seatbelt, in either a car with an airbag or not. Before we determine that the grip is not safe on any knife I'd like to know if the maker designed the guard and ricasso with it in mind. If he did and you still got cut then I think it deserves further investigation.

You must be punchy.

First of all, I'm gonna have to did the knife out....which is going to take a while....because I am not exactly sure where it is.

Will get back to you on this...in about a month...but I won't forget.;)
