One knife to rule them all, my grail has arrived.

Those Indians have been using "junk steel" longer than you or I have been alive, and many of them have staked their livelihoods on the fine blades they forge from that "junk steel".

INFI is great stuff, but there is ABSOLUTELY NO REASON to sit here and trash traditional kukris forged in the traditional way.

I'm okay with it being called junk steel. Leaf springs are no slouches, they wouldn't be able to hold up to decades of the abuse they take if they weren't. "Junk" isn't an insult in this case, imo. :D

That's a cool Zilla. Can't wait until they are produced.

Congrats man on the KZ. :D :cool:

You will have to make a video using it though. :D

So you broke your Boss Street already huh? ROFL :D

That didn't last long. ROFL :D

Just kidding. :)

I actually have used both the MOAB and the Zilla and I can honestly say that I prefer the MOAB. The MOAB chops better than any .40 thick piece of steel has a right to. As for chopping ability, the two are pretty close, only issue I have with the MOAB is when you get deep in a tree it will bind a little due to the thickness. I would love to try a Ruck...

Yes, there are 2 reasons :
1. My right to say what I'm free to say even if you do not like it. Even if it's not "politically correct".
2. A lot of these khuks are strong, but their steel is junk : it's true, it's a fact, nothing else.

Infi is a brand new steel. In my opinion it's a better choice. It's probability to resist breakage is less important. That's it, that's all.

If the steel is heat treated correctly and properly tempered it's not junk steel. ;)

There are a lot of Companies the use the same steel to make high quality Swords out of, and yes even here in the US too. :)

There is some junk out there, but there is also some great traditional Khurkies out there too. ;)

I can't imagine wanting anything else in a chopper..

I'm not even interested in a thinner cg version, I LOVE the weight. It's as heavy as a truck. The edge was not perfect, as the knife isn't brand new, but it's really not all that bad. It takes VERY deep bites into wood, it honestly chops like an axe! I'm not doing anything to the knife besides sharpening it and cleaning up the finish a tiny bit, going to keep the same edge geometry as well.

I love this knife, you'd have to pry it from my cold dead hands!

Glad to see someone else loves the weight and the potential uses of it. I am not grinding the crap out of mine either. Just sharpen as needed!

Congrats on the score, 230! Feels great to get something you've been dogging, doesn't it? Use that monster in good health, you villain.

AND STOP BREAKING BUSSES!!!

;) :D

not entirely sure what the indian bus is supposed to imply in that post.

there is a huge difference in how people will respond to "junk steel" vs "salvaged steel". If you call a 1,200$ custom knife made by a current well known maker out of salvaged 5160 springs at blade show you'll get a lot of negative feedback. "technically" the word is correct, but it would be silly to be surprised by a negative response to it. "junk" has negative connotations for most people.

I've handled some absolutely amazing 5160 khukuri's that hold a better edge longer than infi because they are at a higher rc. Certainly not tougher, but they can be made superior to infi in certain area's of performance even though they are made from salvaged metal.

I'd say try the moab before the ak47. the ak47's is weirdly balanced as swords, and the handle is way to long for a chopper. It makes for a kind of "whaaa?" blade.

Too late :D

I don't think i'll put a scalpel edge on this one. Besides, I broke another Busse yesterday at work.. :( It's off to ohio tomorrow afternoon. Note to self, no matter how many people call Busses sharpened pry bars, a pry bar is a lot better at prying.

we definitely need pics and an action report on that one!!!!
