One knife to rule them all, my grail has arrived.

I did manage to snap the screw that holds the strap on the open spine sheath though. I was the victim in the bed of a truck being whipped around on the race track on the ice, and I must have bounced ten feet in the air after going over a jump. I think I have an extra screw laying around here somewhere.

Send me a e-mail & I will send you a care package to fix the screw problem. :D

You ain't got a chopper till ya got one of THESE!! :-D

Looks like a matchete or something that was broken in half and then ground a little. :D

Mike was that one of your old blades? LOL :D

It's the only blade I have that chops better than my $20 PX Khuk. Takes just a few good swats to go through a 2x4, and that's with the balance point a couple inches from the choil. Must have something to do with weighing almost a metric ton. You really just drop it on stuff and it cuts through. :-) It's gonna be my coconut opener when I get back on the boat. In the mean time, it lives in a Survival Sheath Systems back sheath like a backpack. A 511 vest covers it up completely for lots of Crocodile Dundee style fun at HQ.

Staff weenie: You got a knife I can borrow to open my care package?
Me: (grins and reaches behind back).
Staff weenie: WTF?!?!(rapid backpedaling)
Me: You want I should open it for ya?

:-)

I would say it looks like it wouldn't have any trouble opening a coconut. :D

I thought it was a competition cutter .... looks a similar design to some of them being used now ... but maybe "bigger" ... nice "hamon" line ... what are the spec's?

How about a pic of that sheath set up, please.

Kershaw included for scale. It wears just like a backpack and rides point up just slightly off of vertical. The point aims at the left side of my neck and the handle is just above and inboard of my right kidney. It really only works with a knife this big if you're a big frame person though if you want to conceal it. It's 21" Overall and over 2# so back carry makes a lot of sense.

That's pretty cool, thanks. Must be interesting to put it back in the sheath. :p

Great knife, btw. I love Matt's stuff.

The weight might hinder it for competition cutting on the rope. It's really a beast. We're talking approx (cheesy hadji scale) 2.5lbs of steel to get moving. It's a quarter inch thick at the spine and doesn't taper very fast until it gets close to the edge. The guys at the office were joking it'd make a good armor plate. :D I'm gonna test it out disassembling some frozen pork roasts to grill tomorrow morning. Should be fun.

Peter, roughly how long did you work on the zilla to achieve your ideal profile? I really didn't put much time into it, and just went right into finishing after I got a little stock removed. I'm about to go do a tiny bit more, just going to keep going a little bit at a time. There is a lot of metal, probably one of the fattest convex grinds i've ever seen. I like it, feels sturdy but I just need to trim off a little fat.

Trimming a little fat will vastly improve the performance, no doubt. I'm excited to see how the release version performs, with the improved grind. Very interested to see what the price will be, too.

So the killazilla will go into production someday? Sorry, I've been out of the loop for a while. Maybe if I order one the usps won't deliver it into a black hole like my bw le.

That Lamey is very nice. What kind of steel? 1095? W-2? I'd like to see an INFI version of that blade profile. Probably more so than than the killazilla.
