One knife to rule them all, my grail has arrived.

I won't get down to ounces, but in use, the Zilla is not much harder to use IMO. It is VERY heavy to the tip compared to the NMFBM and it almost makes chopping use less energy because the knife does a lot of the work for you. I feel like I had to swing the NMFBM harder to get less results than I can get with the zilla swung with less force.

230,

You're right. The KZ seems to want to swing on it's own. At first, I thought it just felt weird. I wanted to choke up on a choil (but there wasn't one) to get a better balance. But, now I realize that it's just the way it was designed.

I'm laughing about the choil, because I cut my index finger trying to use the choil that's not there lol. I went to try and make some fuzz sticks and grabbed the choil, to my surprise I couldn't find it, but found a nice little cut instead. Bled all over the knife, so now I can never get rid of it.

The best way to look at it LVC is that if you have a lot of other Khukri's and can move them on and come close the cost of a Zilla .... that would be a cool move ... the Zilla is the best khukri I have used ....

The NMFBM though is a great knife in it's own right .... well worth keeping IMO ....

These two offerings are probably the best application of Infi IMO ... those and a Basic 9 .... as much as I love my other Infi .... especially blades like my FSH Variant ... if I wanted all bases covered on the chopping / carry weight front ... the three above probably do it best ... light - medium - heavy .

I do have a lot of time and respect for the NMFBM though ... that's why I said don't sell it until you have picked up a KZ .... you have to "feel" whether it is right for you to give up a NMFBM ... I certainly would'nt like to make that choice ... but would certainly swap a load of other knives to get both

I made an offer on one, if it doesn't go through I'll just have to wait for the prices to come down even further (though the current price is looooooooow ). If I can't do a near even trade for my nmfbm I think I'll just stick with it. darn kz threads...

Good Luck  I think the TT KZ's will go "up".... so get one now ....

The NMFBM CG will be available at decent prices at shows .... get one there ...

Even when Jerry brings out a new KZ model ... the TT ones will still be the "heavy weights" on chopping ....

I know this much .... my KZ I would "compete" with anyone using a MOAB to bring down a big tree .... maybe we should have a "comp" ... freestyle .... KZ's ... MOAB's ... Chuckette's ... if Jerry offers some custom shop credit's to make up some prize's I would fly over for that ...

There is no way I would give up a NMFBM for a KZ. ;)

I own both Khurkies and Bowie style blades for a reason, they each have their place, uses and strengths and weaknesses.

I would get both as one will end up using both and if you sell the NMFBM to get a KZ or any Khurki you will up buying another NMFBM in the future. ;)

IMO if one is thinking about a Khurki, buy a cheaper one like a HI model or use one that someone else owns to see if they are right for you.

Or you could wait until Busse comes out with a CG model, the best option IMO. :)

Not trying to derail Mikes thread here at all though, as he is very happy with his KZ.

I gave up my NMFBM for the kz, BUT I will buy another one soon most likely. I had to give the TT zilla a shot, because I wanted a big super heavy infi kukri and I have a feeling the cg is gonna be a lot lighter. I'm still gonna pick up a cg one though if Jerry offers it.

I remember we talked about that. :D

Congrats! I'd love to get my hands on a KZ, but I'm focused on building my firepower collection at the moment. ;)

I've decided to compromise a bit, gun, knife, gun, knife etc.. A new gun is up next, then a new knife. It's hard to balance hobbys.

Hahah, I'm doing the same thing, last knife (or sword) was the Waki. Now it's time for a gun, actually I'm pretty new to guns so I have some catching up to do.

Last knife before this was the boss street, then the xdm 9mm, now the kz, next i'm probably picking up a 7.5 inch AR SBR, then i'll go from there.

Finally got a chance to test out the zilla good and hard.

We had to get a fire going because it was pretty windy and freezing out on the ice. All we had was large thick pieces... No axe? No problem.

Before I left for the lake with a brand new 230grain special ghetto satin finish-

She had her work cut out for her, this was the smaller of the wood that needed processing.

Batoning is a little harder with a kukri because of the shape of the blade. Once you get it to bite in though, it works like a charm. I didn't mention it yet, but it also splits like a small axe if need be, just a well placed careful chop and you have yourself a knife sized splitting maul.

I'll be honest, I didn't do much fishin'. I only put out five flags, and wasn't even really interested in keeping an eye on them. We did catch a bunch of crappie though, and perch.

What the hell, it's seven AM so it was time for some mooseburgers/sausages, hot dogs, some bear chili and some more hot dogs.

Ahhh the best part of fishing.

I think the knife is almost perfect as it is, but I think the primary grind could be thinned just a tiny bit more to achieve my goal of axe like cuts. It's pretty close, but I'll work it over a little bit more this weekend and keep testing it before I put a finer finish on it so I don't have to keep going over it with finer grits.

I did manage to snap the screw that holds the strap on the open spine sheath though. I was the victim in the bed of a truck being whipped around on the race track on the ice, and I must have bounced ten feet in the air after going over a jump. I think I have an extra screw laying around here somewhere.

I'd also like to say, I'm absolutely done belt carrying this knife. It's not ridiculously heavy, but it gets in the way. I wonder if I can turn this into a baldric set up.

Interesting to hear your thoughts 230 .... you seem to be going down the same road I did and reaching the same conclusions .... I have taken a shoulder holster and made patterns from it and then some custom ones from the KZ and a knife and Laplander Saw I will use as "companions" .... now need to start putting it together ...
