One Steel to Rule Them All

I think I would be good with M4.

I'm still learning about steels, right now I lean towards A2 or 3V for fixed blades and S110V for folders. I realize the limitations for M4 in an EDC folder, although I have a Bradley folder and a Manix 2, both with M4, so M4 is somewhat of a compromise. Going slightly the other direction, Elmax might be a good compromise too.

I love Elmax.

Just got a shiro in m390 and a hinderer in cpm20cv. I'm liking it a lot also.

154CM is enough for me 99% of the time. If I want to go fancier, I'll choose S35VN

I would choose YXR7 @ around 65hrc.

Unfortunately, I think Rockstead is the only knife company/maker using that steel; sadly, their grinds are not the easiest to maintain.

I would pay ridiculous amounts of money for either a Sebenza or a Thorburn L51 in YXR7...

To me, all knives 5" or smaller should be M390. I don't really use much bigger, I like 8670 for 8 inch or so.

Unobtainium would be my first choice, but if I couldn't get it, INFI.
