Only Bark river passed knife tests !!!

Is a knife maker or knife company a religion or political party to be so personally associated with and defended?

And a voice from the darkness and said 'Let there be INFINI', and INFINI was, and INFINI was found to be good... :o

Infini ? :d

i'm not even gonna try anymore if the program won't let me capitalize, i'm removing my shift key.

not some sort anthropomorphized thing to be a fan of

That must be a great knife that Gameskeeper, as i have heard so many in so many different places singing it's praises.

I bet the modified Bravo-1 version would be one of the best knives out there.

emphasis mine, but I can't claim the inconsistency:cool:

You can, however, claim the inability to follow a simple point. Was that supposed to be clever? You can claim the inability to be clever also. :jerkit:

...arguing about stuff in rather adolescent ways, and for no other reason than to try and appear knowledgeable...

Like i said, this was an excellent example of what i described.

ah, I really enjoy the use of the jerkit smiley in a post deriding others for adolescent behavior.

The Bark Rivers look like great, solid knives.

That having been said, without knowing the exact models tested, the nature of the tests, and the specific results by model, the test is about as worthwhile as a bunch of teenage car enthusiasts posting that they tested a bunch of sports cars and found the Mazda Miata to be the best by far.

This must be the most ridiculous thread discussions ever.

So a bunch of guys bought and tested knives. They liked
a BRKT knife. We don't know the other knives, we don't know
the tests. We do know they wanted a cutter not a fighter. Not really much to go on. I mean if some car company X came to you and said
"This is the best car in the world and we make it. It was
tested by a group of car enthusiasts. we can't tell you
the other cars or the test. But it's their favorite and we make it."

Would you buy that car based on that?
And no I'm not saying that it didn't happen or that the knife
isn't a great knife. I'm saying that it's not really much to go on.

Congrats Mike, on a great knife. Sounds like the Marines knew what they wanted and chose a excellent blade. Interesting to note that they didn't choose a knife that was a heavy, sharpened prybar, survival knife. They chose one that serves their purposes and actually will be carried and used. Personally the only testing I pay any attention to is real world testing of a knife; by the people that will actually use it. The pseudo intellectual babblings of Cliff, still trying after all these years to pass himself off as some sort of knife testing expert, are easily ignored by this writer.

I love it! Five posts and you're attacking Cliff!:thumbdn:

Also, I believe, though I have no way of knowing as the details of the tests weren't made public like the winner of the test was, that it was a select group of Marines, and not the entire Corps that chose the knife.

I find it very absolutely hillarious that you, a self-proclaimed "writer", are willing to consider a post, made by the President of a knife company, about unknown tests, conducted in an unknown environment, against unknown competitors' products, in which his product was chosen as superior, "real world testing"!:D You're funny, dude!

I personally love BRK&T's products, but I'm not a fan of hype.

I spent the day doing my own test. My test was NOT scientific. Not even very real world. Just some cutting, chopping and mostly batoning. The two knives tested were my two current favorites. The Bravo-1 and the HRLM. They are by the way very similar knives. The HRLM was not available at the time of the Marine evaluations. I will attach a couple of pictures. The only significant diference in the two knives is the blade coating on the HRLM. Both feel great and inspire confidence that you could trust your life to either knife. Two great knife makers come up with two very similar answers to the same knife requirements. BATAK is on the way. Can not wait to compare it. It is a little longer. I posted the same pictures on the Busse Forum, but I have no idea how to link. Sorry.
Ron Athay

I will try the pics again. They help to show how similar the two knives are.
Sorry, it will not let me. Go to Busse Forum and a thread called "A day in 8's yard" by 360Joules.

3Guardsmen,

To reference one's self as the author or writer when writing is a standard practice. This writer likes Ron Athay's pics and the knives they depict.

I just read thru this entire thread and my head is spinning. I think the Bravo1 is a great looking knife and I know BRKT is a excellent company. I'm wondering how that uncoated A2 steel is going to hold up, corrosion wise, in those salt water enviroments Marines often work in?

I should mention that I use Bark River A2 in the kitchen, including on meat and fruit and I don't oil them anymore. I just rinse them under the tap as I go, and wash and dry them when I'm finished.

Just wipe the blade off! If its just that simple I wonder why companies spend all that money producing all those different, expensive, kinds of stainless steels? Water is one thing SALT water another. But, I see your point. I'm betting those recon boys know how to take care of their stuff.
