Only one...

BK 9 , I can do enough of the small stuff with it and also have a good chopper to bushwack or process fire wood. Axe or big knife for me.

Couple inches at the tip and at the heel for fine jobs and cleaning/skinning game and fish. The middle for chopping and splitting. Less blade to maintain with that smooth stone you picked up in the creek... I like it.

That's a pretty strong case for the nine.

How about the 2 and the 7 ? They've been popular choices and might be the best choices. Let's hear the case for them.

BK2. Not much I can't do with it to provide my self shelter, fire, water, and food. Course it would be easier if I had my sheath kit that goes with it.

Moose

No sheath kit Moose. That would be too easy. You'd come back rested and well fed. Only the knife.

Now in the interest of full disclosure, I don't own and have never used or even held a BK 7. I do have a BK 9 and a BK 2, I like them and use them. But conceptually I like the BK 9 the best. Everytime I take it out I am re- impressed a its usefulness. I haven't found it lacking, though I suspect I may not like it when taking animals apart.

Oh, I figured the kit was out, hence the knife, steel, and pot setup. I would just grab my billy pot, my 4" GG firesteel, throw my BK2 in one of my leather sheaths, and disappear into a movie like mist.

30 days later, I would be found dead about 200yds from where I disappeared into the mist. Dead of starvation, dehydration, and hip gyration.

Yup, danced until I was dead.

Don't get me wrong I love my BK7 also, I just been using my BK2 lately....

Next week it my be my BK9.....

Not that I'm knocking the BK9, mind you. You could probably make do with about any of them and have fun doing it. :D

Hey G-Kahn, that last pic in your post IS the right stuff! That's a sweet pic. Can I rob it for wallpaper?

This is without a doubt the funniest post I've ever read on here.

I do believe I'd wander into this little adventure with my NECKER ONLY! and git-er-done!.........and I'd be in the ground 'inspiring the cabbages' quicker than Moose!!:D:D

I would like to hereby nominate Moose dancing into the mist as post of the decade. I can see it carved on a tombstone......

Busse KZII. The best, toughest khuk around and khuk's are my personal favorite all-around woods blades.
I know, I know, I should take the MachAx or the Reinhardt to be a good little aspiring Beckerhead.

by what criteria is it the best? ;) i mean seriously, i have heard very little information on testing, reviews, day to day usage/etc. need tests :)

i'm been hankering (hah pun) for an Extrema Ratio model, just cuz they're a bit different.

i've got me a LOT of khukris... had a LOT more in years past, but i've tuned that down a lot over the years. some of the best the market offerered, from traditional to customs. it takes a LOT of talent to make a good khukri that isn't a khukri shaped object.

Machax BK4 to clarify ;)

Okay, okay. IMHO, the best (in my experience).
YMMV

I think the BK9, Just because it would make things easier. Wood processing and Shelter building would be earier with the BK9.

Yes, The BK2 can do it all but would require more output to get it all done.

That is why I never just have one. :D

BK-9 for me. All I use are large knives. I still haven't gotten around to buying a BK-2 yet, so I don't know how well it would chop 4 inch logs, but I know my BK-9 plays with them like a chainsaw on a toothpick.... sorta :D
