Arrived today, the Oak is very very similar to the Beech wood one I have, and to note that both of them have the coarse finish on the blades, these did not get the mirror polished blades. Also on the Oak, as did a few other regular Opinels I've received, the back side of the tang needed some filing down so that the blade was straighter when viewed from the side, so the transition flows better, didn't take much, used a small grinding wheel on my dremel and all is good, but a warning, do this at your own peril, TOO much taken off can make not lock closed as well, which isn't too much of a concern.
Now the #10, the Cherry Wood handle, not a lot of character in the wood and the blade is also the coarse finish too. The tip of was exposed when closed, so I had to take a small Case Tuxedo and continue the channel just a little bit more so the blade would drop down and keep the tip....and me

....better protected.
The #10 is much larger than the #8, enough that I think one will suffice for the time being, although I may sell this one and pick up a Bubinga one for my collection. I can see the longer blade being handy on certain things, like that sub the other night, that would have worked a lot better, but the #8 did ok too.
I'll get some photos up when I can.
