Opinions of this ?

Hunting involves killing, if you are lucky. When I was young I hunted small game and always ate what I shot. Some folks hunt for sport or trophies. I have done that, too. I don't see anything particularly bad about the bear kill. Hunters kill things, and some times it gets messy. Personally, I have reached a point in my life where I do not enjoy killing any more. But I would not judge those men.

Typical of the redneck hunter- more adept at running thier mouths than shooting thier rifle competently. First shot should have been the last.:thumbdn:

I am a hunter. That is a sad video. It is the hunter's responsibility to take his quarry as fast as possible. No one wants to see an animal suffer. I'm curious as to which caliber they were shooting. It is obviously not a powerful enough cartridge for bear and or the shooter was not capable of making a lethal shot at that range. Pretty sad. :thumbdn:

The kill did take too long. The marksmanship could have been better. The hunters did not seem to be bothered by it. Sometimes, things don't go as well as they should. At least the bear was not able to wander off and die a slow death. So a one shot kill looks better. It is still killing. We all eat animals every day that somebody killed for us. Death is seldom pretty.

I guess I disagree with pretty much everyone. If the bear is a nuisance, go ahead and "remove" the bear. If the bear is not bothering anyone, not over-populated, not being killed for meat, then leave it alone. I know it's a stretch, but what if aliens landed and started picking us off one by one because it made them feel good? Would that be okay because they consider themselves "hunters"? I don't understand how someone can take a life simply to put a head on their wall. I don't hear of many people eating bear steaks. I'm sure many of you whole-heartedly disagree so go ahead and tell me about it, I'll check in later.

I hunt but I am a good shot and I have never had to fired a second shot.

Those guys were idiots, bang bang bang but no aim.

Well I like to hunt but I only think you should shoot what you are ging to eat. If you are not going to eat it then you shouldnt be shooting it. Can you even eat bear? I dont think you can. As far as the length of the kill, I think you should kill the animal as quickly and painlessly as possible. Not to sound cheesy but a long, painful kill just for fun and not for food is not honorable.

Yeah you can eat bear but you usually have to mix it with another meat and make sausage for example, they do taste pretty good.
What disturbed me with this video was the amount of shots taken to kill it and their lack of concern when they knew the bear must have been in pain !

You guys don't know much about killing, do you? Even a whitetail with its heart blown to bits might run several hundred yards.
There are very few instant kills, and this bear got repeatedly shot as it was still moving rather than be left there to bleed out, or run away. Yes, there was evidence of irresponsibility on the part of both the guide and hunters, and yes the shooting might have been better, though the video really gives no idea where the shots where placed. All in all, a relatively humane kill.
Find something else to cry about.

Yeah and would you think the same if a member of your family was gunned down in 4-5 shots while they were trying to crawl away ?
I'm usually a calm guy but statements like that really......well I'll leave it at that !!!!

"Can you even eat bear? I dont think you can."

You most certainly can, and usually, it is quite good.

I've only killed two Black bears, but the meat was delicious. We had bear stew, roast, and sausage.

Also rendered the fat down to a beautiful clear, white lard, which was outstanding making biscuits, pie crusts, greasing a griddle for pancakes, and frying.

I've eaten Black bear meat from three other Black bears, killed by friends of mine. It was very good.

Sometimes, depending on what the bear has been eating, the meat can be kinda "rank," but the bear meat I've eaten, was very good.

FWIW.

I am A hunter, can;t say anything except poor shooting and hunting on a road isn;t my thing either,I love bear meat ,properly cared for its a very delicious meat.I can hit what i aim at,lots of practice and zeroing in my gun before hand tends to make hunting and taking game cleaner and quicker,I do not like to see anything suffer, and i eat what i kill .

I have nothing against responsible hunting, but those guys were fuckwits!! The kill took too long while they were all gobbing off and shooting down a road, WTF!!!

This is an inane comparison and really detracts from the issue.

Other than BAD shots shooting a small bear...I see not that much wrong with it...I never thought much about hunting bears..to easy, it takes luck or bait. But I am a bowhunter, (not much of one:D) but they were hunting...and that is what it is, culling or killing an animal. Dying is a part of life, I don't see people crying over all the fuzzy animals that grow old and DIE..its still dying, and I heard once that there is no GOOD way to go.
