Opinions of this ?

Yeah and would you think the same if a member of your family was gunned down in 4-5 shots while they were trying to crawl away ?
I'm usually a calm guy but statements like that really......well I'll leave it at that !!!!

pitdog, you know I love your nature pictures and I share your love of the outdoors and respect for life, but I suspect that you are not a hunter. Neither am I much of one anymore, but if I must kill, I can and will. Those men may seem like yahoos to you, but chances are they are family men and not hoodlums or killers of humans. They were not killing people. But there are times when even that may be necessary.

WTF? Did tehy trap it and then shoot it? It looks like it has a trap and a chain on its leg toward the end of the clip.

That's not a member of my family, it's a game animal being legally hunted. When I die, I hope it is that brief and painless, but seriously doubt that it will be.
Statements like that really what? Upset you? Well, isn't that just too bad.
If you have that much trouble dealing with reality, that's noone's problem but your own.

I guess I disagree with pretty much everyone. If the bear is a nuisance, go ahead and "remove" the bear. If the bear is not bothering anyone, not over-populated, not being killed for meat, then leave it alone. I know it's a stretch, but what if aliens landed and started picking us off one by one because it made them feel good? Would that be okay because they consider themselves "hunters"? I don't understand how someone can take a life simply to put a head on their wall. I don't hear of many people eating bear steaks. I'm sure many of you whole-heartedly disagree so go ahead and tell me about it, I'll check in later.

You just described the movie "Predator" exactly.

I disagree with anyone who hunts for Sport, and I have no problem judging those who do.

Bad shooting. Bad at hunting. The video just shows lack of skill.

I personally hate trophy hunting, and will never do it, but I do hunt for meat. It's a different mindset, and I will never impose my views on others. I respect folks who trophy hunt, and they are usually good people (even if they can't shoot worth sh*t in many cases.). As long as the animal is treated humanely, which in my view means one-shot one-kill.

People who hunt but can't shoot are, to me, like people who get their drivers license and then keep causing accidents. These guys can't shoot.

Anyone who condemns hunting should logically be a vegetarian. Paying others to do ones killing and avoiding the unpleasant aspects of it removes such a person from one of the realities of of nature, violent death. I am against unnecessary killing, but with the loss of natural predators, thinning of some animal populations by hunting actually preserves the health of the species. Come to think of it, plants are alive, too. I guess we should just eat rocks.

Ok, this is Pit's wife. I was the one who brought this to Pit's attention after reading the article in the paper today. I am not against hunting, so long as the animal is killed quickly and the meat eaten. To me, this showed a bunch of amateurs who paid thousands of dollars, on an organized hunt, to brag in the bar to their buddies that they had shot and killed a bear. If you listen to the dialogue, they say that the bear fell down the banking and was still growling (probably in agony) when they eventually found it. I tried, but failed, to find the thread that showed the Moose that was shot with one bullet, which fell dead to the ground to add to my reply to show how hunting should be carried out. Come on guys, have some respect for the animals that you slay! Having said this, I am a woman and my opinion probably doesn't count!!

Mrs Pitdog, of course your opinion matters. It was a messy kill and you may be right about those hunters, I don't know. Most all hunters I know strive for a quick one-shot kill, but it doesn't always go that way even with expert marksmen.

ive shot deer @ 100yds that have dropped instantly & on the other hand ive shot deer @ 50ft that ran 40yrds.
both were shot in the same place & i recovered both animals.... i had good food for several months & 2 antler mounts on the wall

I've participated in making coyote calling/hunting videos. Most kills are one shot, but every now and then, things don't go well and snowball into ugliness fast. And no, I don't eat them. They fall into the varmint category and prey on the animals that I do eat.

I hunt, I eat what I hunt and don't hunt what I'm not going to eat., just don't really see the point(exception: coyotes and other animals that potentially harm livestock and such). That guy needs to get ALOT more range time in if thats all the better he can shoot!

in regards to the guy throwing the puppy.., WTH? That guys has issues if he gets his kicks that way, and certainly doesn't need to be representing this country in the military IMO.

I have no issues with quick kill hunting and I realise that some hunts must go wrong but these were laughing as the bear was in agony, if it was me I would be upset I'd messed up and try to despatch it as quickly as possible.
As regards me not dealing with reality, everyday I deal with paedophiles, rapists, drug pushers and murderers, it's my job. They exist in all communities, that's reality, do we have to condone what they do because we cannot change it.....No I don't think so, maybe you do ?

Here in BC (where this hunt took place) it is legal to shoot on a logging road. However as a hunter I will state that any time you pull the trigger you better know what is beyond your target.
Also here in BC among resident hunter's most who hunt blackbear also eat blackbear meat, I don't like blackbear meat so I don't hunt them.
As far as the shooting in the video, once again the bear hunters I know do not use one shot stops on bears. They do the original shot with at least one follow up shot to make sure the animal is down and out, if done correctly the second shot isn't needed however the animal does deserve to die as quickly and humanely as possible.
These hunters may appear to be yahoo's, however I would be more inclinded to blame the guide.
The hunters may not have hunted bears before, and it appeared to me that they did the first two shots quickly and assumed the bear was down and out.
IMO, the guide who supposeably knows about bears should have approached the bear right away to make sure it was dead, or instructed the hunters to make a followup shot.
The second part of the video shows very poor sportsmanship by the hunters IMO.
Bears can be very tough creatures and if you don't do your part, they can do a lot of different things to ruin your day.
Hunters exspecially in-expierenced ones will take their cue from their guide in respect to behaviour.
As in any group you can have bad apples and the anti's use these type of things to distort what hunters are really like.
This happened back in 2004 and now it's hitting the papers, sounds like a disgruntled ex-employee to me looking for revenge on his former boss

Hope the "Soldier" who did that died a horrible death - Mrs Pit.

Mrs. Pit, I said those very words myself, but I called him something else.

Then I said if they have no values or morals, and are acting so cruely, and are willing to video tape it, AND put it on the net, I have to ask myself, what else are they doing that they WON'T video tape and put on the net?? I wonder how many illegal killings these people have committed.

That soldier needs to be picked up thrown 40ft onto some sharp fuckin rocks. What a piece of shit!!!!!!

This is what I believe to be the height of barbarianism, and does not help our own countries image at all.

Is that real? I can't believe that. Isn't harming animals the first step to a serial killer. That guy and his buddy are messed up. I hate to wish bad things on them but karma is a beotch so I won't have to.

On a side note, I had always heard bear like most carnivoirs are "game-y", learn something new everyday.
