They're simply lying and price gouging under the guise of "Ermahgerd I just like ttly bought this but it's tooooooo big for EDC....so now I'm going to pass the awesomeness to you guys for only $400 more than the actual price!"

I'm getting the Deluxe System as well. When I was reading reviews on the polishing rod, they were kind of mixed. Some said it worked and some said it didn't. I'm not really into polished edges. I was going to get it to use after the ultra fine rod, but I really don't see it being that much better. There's not any reviews on the stropping rod, so I wouldn't know. I think I'll just get the Deluxe System with the pedestal (metal one), and see about adding on later.

Excellent point Mark. However, it's a one time deal and not a consistent pattern. For example, if a person always shows up with Hinderers and sells them, and their presence on the forums is limited to the Exchange or mostly then that is grounds to qualify them as a dealer. Too much coincidence.
It saddens me to see this too, people simply buying a product in order to gouge the members that would otherwise want the knife. There is nothing we can do, theycan sell for whatever price they like. Just make sure none of the KAI group trolls the Exchange threads.

If you're not into polished edges, the ultra fine stone is plenty, even that polishes fairly well. You can get some crazy polished edges on the Edge Pro, that's why I love mine.
 
I understand his point, but it still hurts to see that. I've already sworn to the Order of KAI that I won't cause any trouble, so no trolling for me.
 
If anyone wants it bad enough to pay that then let them have it. More reasonable secondary market prices will settle in once the new ears off.
 
Welp, I guess $800 is the market price...at least for now. It's all a speculative bubble, same thing happened when the 056X's came out
