I use these things called Tub O' Towels. They're towels soaked with that citrus cleaner stuff. It's water-based, unlike Goo Gone, so it's milder, however it works very well for cleaning pretty much anything. Takes Sharpie off with no problem, also removes adhesive residues and gum. Takes grease off very well also. You could usually find them at True Value Hardware or Raindew Pharmacies if you have those by you, but now they're on Amazon.

I think sometimes people forget what they have in their signatures.

I'm not sure what you mean...

Crap now I stumbled upon the Work Sharp. I have some pretty good sized fixed blades and this system seems it will be better to sharpen fixed blades. Not bad for $70.

Jim just obliterated duro in the 0560 issues thread. It was SO EPIC. I can't wait to meet that guy and shake his hand.

the belt sander deal? it works pretty good, my snap on dealer sells them.

Ya it's essentially a mini belt sander. It seems like it would work well for any kind of knife really. Seems like the Lanksy would be difficult to sharpen fixed blades. It's right around my price range too.

Realize this is late but for arguments sake and to mess with stick I am going to say go wicked edge :)

Dear lord. I started flattening the EP stones at 1:40-1:45 and finished at 4:00. That was horrible. They are pretty flat though:thumbup:

Don't want to drop that much right now on a system. Debating between the Lanksy and Sharpmaker

Before I got my Edge Pro, what I use was the DMT aligner system, combined with the Lansky base (which I started on, and was adequate). The DMT has (arguably) better stones, but the Lansky base is better.

Jim is the man! I loved his "stop talking" the most. I imagine it was pretty hard for him to not flip out on him. He handled that like an absolute legend.
