I requested mine about 2 weeks ago. They're website says it'll arrive between 2-8 weeks, so that's probably why your guy's are taking awhile to get to you.

Hey DBag, I saw in a thread that you were getting something from Germany and you ordered it on January 10th. What is it and why's it taking so long? If it's a custom, then that's self-explanatory. I'm also out of school already.

They were cuscadi scales. And they shipped out January 10

I figured it out, but thanks for the help. I'm actually sharpening a knife, the right way. This is so exciting! I'm on the fine stone now.

make sure and take ur time, especially with the last two stones, whatever they are. they are crucial for good finish. When u are finished, check ur blade, im willing to bet that it will have a rolled edge, sharp one way and not the other. Use the inside of an old belt, going away from the edge, back and forth(called stropping, google if confused) and the edge will turn out even.

Definitely Lansky, now that I'm able to use one. The Sharpmaker is mainly for touch-ups.

Ya but most of my knives are new and still have a nice edge on them. After watching reviews on both the Sharpmaker seems faster and easier to use. Not that the Lansky looks difficult by any means, but it seems like more work just to maitain an edge. If I needed to reprofile an edge than that would be my choice hands down.

The difference is you get both capabilities easier with a lansky. Just invest in a strop and a mid range lansky kit and you will end up being cheaper than the sharpmaker.
