A load is something a batter does before the pitch is thrown but while the pitcher is winding up to actually pitch the ball. Imagine a batting stance. The batter will have 80% of his weight on his back foot and 20% on his front foot. When the pitcher's hand gets to about his head or a little bit before, the batter will put most of his weight on his back foot and drives his hands through the strike zone while making sure his front foot is planted in the spot it was before he loaded. Imagine it like you're squashing a bug. It's easy, but hard to do. Even harder to explain.
