Order of the straight edge

Is the 2nd from the bottom the #89? If so how do you like it? Looks really nice

Pete

Sorry for not responding sooner. It is an 89, the Executive Whittler (I'm better with model names than numbers). It is a great knife- thin and long so it is very suitable for EDC. Beautiful, sleek and very well constructed- my favourite GEC, and their most underrated knife IMO. I bought mine as a Massage Program graduation present, and it was what I decided to keep in my backpack as extra backup after my home invasion last October. It was the slipjoint that I wanted to make sure wasn't stolen if such misfortune hits my family again.

Inevitably, I've just realised I've missed a few :(

Meeting will come to order...

:D

Finding myself more and more reaching for a wharncliffe or sheepsfoot to ride along for the day, cutting whatever is needed. Here in the OOTSE, we do not discriminate on spine shape or how pointy it is. The color or type of material its made from or how big or small the frame or blade(s) be. What matters is that sharp edge be straight! Well, atleast one of the knife's blades must be ;)

Post your pictures, carving projects, reasons you prefer them, storys or whatnot. Know your amomg friends and fellow followers of the straight edge :). Ill raise my glass of single malt to the crowd, cheers and welcome.

Not really a traditional, but my only straight edge is on my Mantis Pit Boss, I use it for working on the house. Cutting drywall, shingle felt, lanolium and all that jazz. I love it cause it's like having a box knife that won't break, and I never have to look for a replacement blade.

Wow, that's a nice collection, there. Sorry if you've shown it before, but what is the one at the far left side? A lambs foot? It looks like the handle is horn. Really beautiful!

Thanks r8shell, that's an Arthur Wright & Son Lambsfoot in oxhorn, got that one very recently :)

It took this thread for me to realize just how many straight-edged knives I own. Wharnies are more aesthetic to me, but sheeps are eminently practical - the more I carry them, the more I appreciate their versatility:

And how about a BIG straight edge?

Here are a few straight edge knives I made a while ago. The black paring knives are made from piano keys and early stainless butter knives reshaped ( quite amazing steel and perfect for paring knives). Another paring knife I made for a friend, and a friction folder made for my Father in law for a small desk knife.

Best regards

Robin

I love a straight edge! Seems like these days I always have at least one riding along.
Have to snap some new pics when I get home. :o

Let's keep the knives traditional, please. I submit OOTSE, Order of the Traditional Straight Edge as a possible change.;)

Just to keep it light here's a modified Wharncliffe. It's the only time I would consider carrying a single knife. Just a bit of belly to help if you're needing some. That would be OOMSE, Order of the Modified Straight Edge. ;)

If it's not a straight edge, I'll make it a straight edge! OOTSE ftw!

I'll spare you my stockmans and just show the primary straight-edgers.
"Remington", Ulster, Kutmaster, Sabre (Japan), Taylor's Eyewitness lambsfoots.
