ORDERS ARE CLOSED! 2023 BladeForums.com Traditional Knife.

Just placed my preorder! These look great!

Also, my reading comprehension is excellent, thank you for your concern.

“Like last year, you will need to be an active member of the Traditional forum to purchase these (25+ posts in this forum, member since before Jan 1, 2023) or have a Gold or higher membership.” This is clearly stated on the original thread https://www.bladeforums.com/posts/22138206/
Don't know anything about that, but in the first post of this thread it says "Make sure you fit the requirements - 25+ posts in Traditional forum, limit 1 per household".

I'm sure he's busy, but maybe Spark Spark can clear things up for you.

Not my business, just trying to help. 👍

I’m pretty sure at this point the ambiguity is a moot point… there are still knives to order, there’s (unfortunately) legit ambiguity, and I bet anyone who regularly haunts the traditional forum and wants one of these probably ordered them days ago.

There is no "OR" on the first post of this thread.

I don't really have a dog in this race, but I think the "Or" comes from the original thread announcing the knife, and people are stuck on that.

Again, I don't really care but I think that's where the confusion comes from.

Nor is there an AND. But in the original thread it clearly states OR.
While there isn't an "and" there is a period at the end of the sentence. Now, I don't know what sparks intent was, but I do know that the first post in this thread, as I read it, states several requirements followed by periods.

The use of the period negates the need for "and". Alas, that is my interpretation only. Spark may very well clear up the ambiguity and say 25 posts OR a gold membership or higher.

I get that too. 🤷🏽

I also have no dog in this fight and want everyone who loves traditionals and wants one to get one - I was merely trying to prevent any future disappointment.

That said, it seems like a stretch to cite an earlier thread when there is a current one with, what I have to believe, are the most up-to-date requirements.

If we can keep debating this I will probably achieve the 25 post requirement as well.

It isn’t a stretch to assume that the requirements for purchase would remain constant from one thread to the next. Rather, I would assume that, if there were a change in requirements, this fact would be explicitly called out.

I remember being surprised when the dual requirement was implemented. My recollection from reading the original post is that it was something like gold or 25 posts, which made me believe I was eligible. After that point I did not look for any rule changes or know that I needed to. When the order link did not open, and I saw all of the "got mine" responses, I was really confused. However, I didn't complain about it then and am not now.

At the same time, I can empathize with those who might feel slighted. Tonight, I'll drink a cup of kindness to my fellow nonpaying members who feel bummed. Take heart, GEC's are the spéciale du jour in the sale forum.

Aww, give it a rest already! If you're concerned about it just report the post and let the guys who run the place figure it out. This squabble is really unattractive, and I'd be willing to bet that these pie fights have never resulted in anything useful.

If "and" were the case, then one would be required to have a gold or higher membership to even be eligible. Therefore, I'm certain the requirements are "or".
Judging off what his post says I'd say that's exactly what he means. After gold members with 25+ posts get theirs, leftovers can be had by non paying members.Screenshot_20230916_185504_Brave.jpg
