OT: Gear and Tools Used by SURVIVORS!

That was fast! There's a lot to like in that pic!

LOL!! Yes it was and thanks! I went to a local store, spent about 10 to 15 minutes with the bag and one of the sales people and then bought it. I was really impressed with the compartments and storage. I was not happy with the weight, but it's a tank and has some great padding and support.

Check these tarps out, very good quality and great price.
I used it on a recent trip, and stayed dry and warm all night through some hard rain and wind.
I used a 'continuous ridge line' to string it up, super easy and fast.

I don't remember if you can post outside links, so just google "Etowah tarps"
They used to make the tarps that they sold at "BushcraftUSA", but had some sort of a falling out.
I spoke with the owner when I bought it, very knowledgeable and happy to answer any questions.
Sounds like he's been 'tarpin' for many years.

This is his 10x10 coyote model

I have a couple of those. Used one in a backyard camp out with my family last year. Got a good amount of rain before I got everything down. The test we also put up had water in it by the time the rain stopped, in spite of seam sealing, due to the fly sagging and contacting the inner tent. All the ground under the tarp was bone dry.

How big is that tarp? How small does it pack down and weigh?

Edit: I guess if I read instead of stared at pretty pictures I would have seen 10x10. Lol.

Haha lighter than my main hauler the redcloud 90 :) Looking more for a smaller satellite pack to ride with for essentials when away from camp.

That's kind of what I figured, but wouldn't be a deal breaker if the internal organization makes sense. The other would be whether it'd fit a 3L hydration bladder.

Huge delay in an answer....... sorry. The best I could find is some Q and A on amazon that says it won't easily fit a 3l bladder.

Casino, is this the thread you wanted for machete pics?

Oh, I was looking for this thread (I must be blind or it's my A.D.D., maybe both :D) I'll be loading up my new machete pics on here!

I will post up pics soon as I get it and fondle it. Price from DLT was $145 with the sheath but you can order them without for $115, as the kydex is a funky looking kydex and perhaps not to everyone's liking. I think that LT Wright Co also does a very nice looking leather sheath for these but probably you can do your own leather. These come in a variety of handle options from the LT Wright Co's website but I don't like that Rocky Mountain handle scale finish so I went with the Micarta in double brown finish.

I bought it from DLT which also includes some fire starting kit for free (nice gimmick but can't go wrong with extra fire starters) and also free shipping for orders over $99. LT Wright Co also sells directly for the same prices but there's $8 shipping and no extras. Expensive for a 1075 steel machete but it is made in the U.S. so the extra hopefully goes to support a U.S. family. Also it comes with a nice patina that they do over there in their workshops and the ergonomics being a Bolo type was my ultimate preference over what FF does (I also didn't like the FF's leather sheath as I prefer kydex).

According to my USPS notification, I should be receiving my Nathan Carothers Light Chopper which I landed yesterday by mid next week. I scored one with TeroTuf and dangler sheath

Next week will be a picture heavy one as I also should be receiving my LT Wright Overland machete. With all these new toys to play with, I am hereby giving permission to Survive! to try to enjoy
their June mini break :D

Is this the correct thread to share other makers' tools with Survivors! or is there a different one if this is just for gear and other tools? (not knives).
