OT/ Glock .45?

:D, true but not the average bad guy that you will run into. He will be shooting gangsta style, flickin the gun to give the bullet that extra little amount of velocity:D

True... The extra flickin really helps with accuracy too :D

make love, not war... :couple_inlove:

some of my glocks.

Great lookin 1911's

All I see Stinky are some antiques :~)

Tactical Tupperware Rules!!

I stake my life on ëm everyday. Nothing else gives that warm cozy feelin

I like my Glocks, but will always love the 1911's... Some may consider them antiquated in design, but it is a design that has stood the test of time, and proven itself for over 100 years. How many guns can say that ?
The feel of a 1911 cycling is like no other, and they are a thing of beauty to look at. Both great pistols, just different...

I carry a G21 at work, never had a problem what so ever. Had a Kimber Ultra Carry II, jammed all the time, traded it for a G27, not a jam to be found.

I love it how the tupperware guys like to talk about something this thread has nothing to do with. Fact is the grip to bore angle of the tupperware sucks. The ergo sucks, the width of the gun sucks. Is it reliable, yes. Most of my 1911's have been as well.

Have and love my Glock 30 in OD. Accurate as sin (more so than my G17 or 26) and have never had a failure of any kind. I would highly recommend one.

I could never justify the additional size of the 21 for just the 3 extra rounds... Its a much heftier beast more suited for duty or open carry...

Actually, they have a Glock 30S now which is a 30 frame with the skinnier 36 slide... May be something to check out.

I promise there is a gun in the picture...

Ok, let's talk "capacity" then. ;):D

The thing about the grip angle that everybody complains about..... it is THE BIGGEST REASON why Glock's are so reliable in feeding. Your 1911's may be stone reliable when they are clean & properly lubed, but I'd be willing to bet that if they get caked with carbon, dirt, grime, sand, etc....inside the action, they will likely have problems.

The ergos do leave something to be desired, but this can be modified if need be. The width of the gun could be better, but it is by no means a deal breaker. I can conceal my Glock 17 with an OWB holster and loose fitting t-shirt with no printing whatsoever.

The bore axis and ergos only present a (lack of) training issue, rather than a design issue. People like Dave Sevigny, Robert Vogel & Jessie Abbate have proven this over and over again in competition.

I polished the feed ramp on a 23 today and put some Slip 2000 EWG in it because the thing wouldn't chamber ball ammo reliably..........clean or dirty.

Last Monday I shot a brand new Gen 4 G20 and it jammed 2 rounds out of 5 (the initial time I shot it). This was when it was still clean and with brass cased ammo.

Same day I shot a G19 with a AAC can on it, by the second time I shot it, it had about 800 rounds through it and was.......sluggish. Crud and heat prevented it from going into battery after each round. Also, if you kept the trigger pulled (reset shooting), the pistol wouldn't go into battery. As you released the trigger you could see the slide move slightly back then forward into battery.

Same shoot, shot a Para 1911 with a can on it. Same with the Glock, about 800 rounds through it all day, maybe a bit more (it was a long shoot). I never witnessed a jam. Not to say it didn't have one, but never witnessed a malfunction. And this was with Golden Saber ammo too.

Neither received lube as far as I know, and if it was, it was just junky Rem Oil

The ergos do leave something to be desired, but this can be modified if need be.

And I read.........belt sander :D

And for reasons of what the hell.....Trailwolf.......I find that picture insulting to women. How dare you lay a Glock the same color as fecal matter on them

:D :D :D  :p  :) :D ;) ;)

Sounds like you must be able to enjoy a hard day at work M67 ... marathon shooting sessions and being paid to do it

Our Army has just gone for the Glock and they scored very high on reliability ... taken as a worldwide product where access to similar testing is available this is a consistant finding ... but you can always have issues with any weapon if it is'nt cleaned or when brand new ... particularly the later ... it usually takes a few rounds for any pistol to bed in ...

I began shooting in my teens in the late 70's and despite the 1911 and all the variations on it being "proven" in two World Wars and Korea and Vietnam ... most Police Departments back then were using Revolvers in the USA ... it was the era of the .38/.357 ... and yet was probably the Golden Age of the Colt Series 70 and they were producing some of their best work ... my late 70's Gold Cup was superbly finished ... here in the UK Police departments were also issuing revolvers ... the RUC all had Ruger .357's. Only in Europe were semi auto's issued to the Police. Since then both our Police and most of the USA Departments have gone over to semi auto's and the reason behind this "change" is the Glock ... which is a pretty impressive achievement ... and one no other pistol can claim ...

They are simple to use ... safe to carry ... and are light and have significant firepower ... and in fairness are legendary for reliability ... plus they are comparatively cheap ...

I would'nt be suprised if the US Army move across to Glocks ;)... it is the only candidate for all NATO/UN Forces having a standardised pistol ...

Trust me, I lucked out into it. Job usually sucks. People always think they know their own firearm better than you, but when you say receiver they give you a dumb look. Yesterday I had a polish job on a 23, Diamondback, clean, strip, and rebuild a click clack Savage 135 (187), fix a Chinese 870 copy cause the owner stuck an ATI stock on it, pulled a muzzleloader bullet and now have caked black powder to deal with (damn muzzleloaders), and need to finish a Remington 7400 I've had for a month and a half. The job usually blows :o , so I jumped at the chance to shoot for free :D

SIMPLE, cheap, and light- the reasons police carry them. Police aren't sometimes gun people so their knowledge is......non existent, police departments are cheap so the Glock is attractive, and light, because some people think anything over 9 ounces is heavy and complain ;)

The police department (one and only) in my county bought Sig 226s 25 or more years ago, they still use them and they do great, some use Glocks now too, but the county needs cash and apparently they want to sell the 226s to get XDMs.

How dare you, I just ate breakfast and now I need to hurl after that statement ;)

This would also mean that Glock would have to start producing them in the US for the military to adopt them, and they would probably have to add a thumb safety or a decock system.

Those would just hurt all visual aesthetics of Glocks  ;)

I actually love my G21 and my G22 and G23, but I gotta mess with you guys.:D

The glock is the AK47 of the handgun world. It runs forever. It isn't pretty and ergo is not great, but reliability is beyond any gun made.

Well said, Cobalt.
It comes down to this; There are lots of of pistols and knives out there and get the one(s) you LIKE. Just don't be hatin.
