OT: Whats your favorite SHTF Handgun and why?

My G19 and G17 with lots of 9mm cartridges... firepower and accuracy trumps my 1911 when the
zombies make their rush...

My pistol would likely be my trusty G19.
Would like to have the luxury to carry my low-power-scoped AR for everything, but ammo would get super heavy. I will carry just enough for hostile survival situations. I would definitely have my 10-22 takedown handy for small game and misc. needs. Ammo is light and carries well in my Magpul Backpacker stock (yet to be installed, pending paint job). Wish I could get a can for it.

Knife-wise, I'm split between the ASHBM LE vs my Cerakoted Forsaken Mistress for my big knife. Both very competent. Probably the AMSMO for the small knife. I love SR-101 (Rodent Trail or BG AMS), but the ease of caring for INFI and it's weather resistance wins over the extra keenness of the edge.

And as with my general camping gear goes, a good hand saw and hatchet will be somewhere in the party.

Guns, and knives, are berry, berry dangerous. And you should never - ever - fool around with either one of these insanely lethal tools.

But “if” I was to choose one? G23. Nearly perfect for duty, as well as CCW. Thirteen rounds of a decently capable caliber. Handles well. Mags, parts, and ammo remain, for the most part, available.

Had I decided to venture into the horribly dangerous world of handguns - it might have been my gateway Glock. Y’all stay healthy.

Cobalt Cobalt did you change the recoil springs during the life of the 21 and 22 that cracked. Or did Glock give an explanation?

Never changed the springs on the 21. Changed the springs on the 22 at 10000 rounds.

During that time, I had a Sig P220 older than the G21, with a round count of about 25,000 to date. Still have that gun as well. No failures yet. Replaced springs on that one at about 15,000 rounds.

Hmmmm. Just got me reading about this. Some recommend changing recoil springs roughly every 3K rounds.

About to go swap some out here shortly.....

Probably a smart move to do so. The typical number is usually 5k rounds. But we both know that government guns like the M9, g19, Mk25, etc, probably never get their springs changed. Then people complain when something fails.

Because it’s a kit, it’s ready and it’s portable.

HK P30SK - Benelli M4 H2O - Becker BK2 and a whole lotta 00 Buck. It’s real close to the front door right now just in case. I could end a war with this kit if I had the mind to do such things.
