Hi guys,
Other than H2O, What is your favourite drink on the trail?

Is it true that coffee causes dehydration?

My favourite drink is tea with mint.

Sometimes I'll finish a bottle of soda, but really I'd have to stick with water. :)

In the summer its usually just water.

In winter, there will be tea, coffee, and even hot cocoa...

On the trail, in warm weather at least, its nothing but water.

In colder weather I might brew up a cup of hot tea or hot chocholate for a treat, but even then it's mostly water. Hydration is the most important thing, even in cold weather, and plain water is the best thing for that.

Tea - Lapsang Souchong or Irish Breakfast.

I love that stuff. My lady thinks I'm crazy though. :D

Both my other half and I are fanatical tea enthusiasts, but in terms of a favorite it's hard to pick!

All I ever bring is some instant coffee (yeah, yeah, I know, but it's light) for first thing in the morning. After that I like pine needle tea at noon and in the evening. It's the only time I get pine needle tea, and I actually like it with a bit of sugar. On the trail it's just plain water.

For treated or well water I carry Gatorade Propel packets. The lemonade flavor hides the taste of most anything. In winter, I drink tea.

Summer is water or Gatorade (powder added to water).

Winter is hot chocloate, sometimes with marshmallows if i'm feeling extra fancy.

Water, and Gatorade. Gatorade hydrates you, gives you salt as well as other things that water cannot.

I often put a Staghorn Sumac (Rhus typhina) flower in my water. Makes a nice tasting "lemonade" :D

99% of the time it is just water. I usually also carry either Lucozade or Gatorade as an additional extra.

At the end of a good walk, I like to relax with an ice cold coke.

Sometimes I like a cold bottle of iced tea on the trail (if it's hot out), though I always carry and drink water for hydration. If it's a long outing, I might want to bring along some packets of something for electrolytes and flavoring.

The caffeine in coffee was thought to be a potent diuretic, but research hasn't proven it yet. I seem to remember something about how it may effect people who aren't used to it more than others who have developed a tolerance for it (in the diuresis aspect).
