Our "Front Porch" ....

That's terrible about the 24. If you don't know what you're doing, it's better to do nothing. On happier notes, sweet car Rubi! I've recently been driving my mom's toy that she hates- a '98 corvette. First time I've ever driven anything outside of a truck or jeep for any period of time and it's pretty fun.

I've had an interesting week that's made me rethink a number of life choices. Not in a good or bad way, but I've been sort of called upon to do stuff that I thought I left behind. In the next couple of days, I'll try to make a proper update.

That's terrible about the 24.

Thanks man! I'm hoping for some mercy from the ranch on this one. Between the textured Ti scale and the sterile XM-24 there is just too much right to fight it out with the seller and send it back. He's not taking any responsibility for it anyway. He blamed the ranch for the wrong standoffs which is obviously not the case since he told me he installed them.

I like the early 80s vets. The new one has caught my eye a couple times in traffic over the last few weeks though. I will still always be a Jeep guy at heart though.

That sucks David. People usually trip themselves up when lying about something. When I sell stuff I try to be as up front as possible because I would be very disappointed if something I sent somebody wasn't as they expected. For instance I have a knife I sold and sent out on Monday that was suppose to be delivered yesterday and even though it's out of my control I feel bad that it wasn't delivered yesterday.

Well, she's getting mailed off today to visit the Ranch. It will be a while before she comes back with all the Blade stuff going on, but at least she will be in the best hands possible in the meantime. This is going to be the show piece of my collection when it comes back. It's a XM-24 with sterile blade, textured Ti scale, XM-Crusader clip and XM Crusader filler tab. :) All the pieces are here, now comes the wait... :D

Car Update: I was really getting this for my Wife but, after driving it for a couple days I will say.... Holy crap is this a fun car to drive.
I've owned a few cars in my day and consider myself an enthusiast. This little convertible is something everyone/anyone that likes to drive for fun HAS to own before they die or get to old to enjoy (and yes, I fit quite nicely. Thank you :))
Getting in and out is .... fun. Driving it is a blast.
Anyone who loves knives HAS to have at least one Hinderer, anyone that loves to "Drive" should check out a '99 Miata (Best power to weight ratio IMO).

Lightweight cars are awesome! They feel even more powerful and faster than they are because they don't have as much weight to push / pull :D

^Thats exactly how my '92 Honda Prelude feels. It's so light and just hugs the road at every turn. Very fun car to drive! And a stick OF COURSE... :)

I looked and looked before finding a 5sp. I can not believe anyone would drive a Miata (automatic) Take 10 minutes and learn to drive a manual. yeesh.

Nice Miata! If my Civic ever dies on me, a Miata is at the top of my list for a daily driver. There is a dark green one with a hard top for sale near me that I have been resisting. Before I bought my GTO, I was looking at small lightweight sports cars; FR-S, S2000, Miata,...

I did not expect this little car to win my heart like it did. Being an "old school" Big Block/Old Iron kinda guy... I never really paid any attention to cars in this genre. Now I get it. Still love my tire shredding, pinned back in the seat cars but I now have an appreciation for a sports car that I can literally flip two clamps and let the roof down with one hand at a red light and if need be reverse the process just as simply.
The car makes you grin :)

A buddy of mine had a miata like that at one time. It was a fun little car to zip around in. I have always been a big full size car/SUV guy until 2008 when I got a VW Jetta. Well I have been driving that daily since I got it and although not quite as fun as the miata, I appreciate a small, solidly built car for driving around the city.

No Doubt, based on the "where" my driving happens determines my "ride". I mix it up with 18 wheelers 100 miles a day so a Larger Truck is my DD of choice despite the gas mileage. My 4Runner Limited w/AWD is a nice size, comfortable and has some weight to it. I get between 20-22 mpg and I can drink my coffee and listen to music or talk radio over 15 JBL speakers. Not bad.
For a weekend spin to a favorite watering hole or place for barbeque ribs - this miata will be a fun skate.
IF I was bopping around a city... probably an automatic and a Jetta would be a fine vehicle for that.
If I were going into NYC for a weekend, I would not take the 4runner OR the Miata. I'd take one of my Corollas or better yet, rent an econobox and take it.
I avoid NYC as much as I can but my Wife is from there so a trip now and then is mandatory not to mention the two(2) knife shows in JC every year, might as well say its the city, you turn right at the entrance to the Holland Tunnel (close enough) for this country boy:eek:

Rubi, my take on that little Miata is....a guy just has to have a toy to buzz around in, so go for it and enjoy it. Here's my little toy...D 50 small pics 6-2011 002.jpg

Thanks Juice, my first car was a bug in the early 70's, and I've owned a aircooled VW of some sort of the other since then. My latest is this 63, with a 2110 with dual 45 dellortos, and it should be about 140hp. it has 5400 miles since the small resto, I'm on the 2nd motor/ version 3 of the second motor. And yes..i have issues, it just wasn't right. LOL

Rubi, I feel like we would get along very well if we lived close. Thanks for sharing the info about the new car. And what goes great with xm's, a great vehicle, and audio equipment? Friendship. Have fun driving the new car brother!

Great car Oldbugr, my first car was a 63 Beetle. Learned a lot about auto mechanics on that one, but was fun to drive other than the lack of power and no heat in the winter! My Harley has more horsepower that that bug, seeing yours makes me wish I still had mine, oh well that's what age does to you.

Funny incident happened to me yesterday. I stopped at the Home Depot to pick up some push points, glazing compound, putty knife, and a new glass cutter for a replacement window job at my mother's house. As I was going through the "Self Checkout", I was running my items through the bar code reader, when all,of a sudden the register locked down on me. The marquis read, see self checkout associate. The associate looked in my bag she pulled out the putty knife and asked to see ID. Dumbfounded I asked her why, she said anytime someone purchases a knife they have to be at least 18 years old, store policy.

Rather than just give her my drivers license, I decided to question the stores motive, so now the store manager shows up and asked me what my problem was. I explained to him a putty knife has no sharpened edge on it and is used for scraping. I said so if I buy a 12 inch saws all tree cutting blade that also needs proper ID. Anyhow I've been around long enough to get that "peripheral feel" of causing a scene, so I showed him my ID grabbed my bag and walked out into the parking lot carrying my XM 24 and my concealed carry 38 laughing to myself as I got into my Jeep. I mean WTF is going on here with our society, are we that paranoid that a manager has to ID a 60 yr old for buying a putty knife. Okay I feel better !
