Our "Front Porch" ....

All this kid talk reminds me of why I don't want them. Sure am glad other people are happy to have them, it's just not for me. Glad the ol lady feels the same way.

They say having kids is like walking around with your heart on the outside of your body. Lot of good, some bad, lot of worry, but wouldn't trade the experience for anything. My dad told me in the hospital when my son was born that you will never love anything like you love your kids and he was right.

I almost had a meltdown today. Served a warrant early this morning. After we got the house surrounded, the defendant did a peter pan out of the second story window, so the chase was on. I had to jump a couple of fences chasing the "piece of #%^&". I finally got close enough to deploy my taser and get him into custody. I brought him back to my car waiting for the paramedics to come remove the taser probes when I look down at my vest carrier pocket, where I carry my 3.5 Xm slicer, and the pocket flap is open with no Xm-18 in it. I start panicking and tell the other agents to stand by while I retrace where I ran. I must have gone back and forth several times looking for it and finally found it next to one of the fence posts I had jumped over. Not a scratch on her either. Thank god!!! All my buddies thought I was crazy, but they don't know how much sentimental value that knife is to me. So happy I found it :)

Holy shi+!! I hope it was recorded on cops! I'm glad you found it bro, that would have been very upsetting for all of us I imagine!

Crazy day at work for me too, just not perp chasing crazy. I put in my two weeks last Friday with my current company because I accepted a job offer, and we had one of our two project managers quit on us today, out of the blue, with no notice. Now I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place with the new company and my current one that is about to offer me a fairly substantial raise. I don't know what I should do. I love this place, but I'll have a very pissed off recruiter and company if I go bag on the offer, but then again I haven't signed anything yet.

Calling ALL opinions..... (especially those who currently run one or have like F.O. and N2K's Uncle, ChemDawg hasn't been around in awhile)
Been on a car mission. Bought two(2) Corollas for the kids, got the Miata (toy) now thinking about swapping the 4runner Limited for a Jeep Wrangler (yes I know:rolleyes:) truly is a jeep thing, once bit (have had 6-7) it's tough to shake.
4runner is a great truck but - kinda boring.
Went looking today and Wow the different Jeep Wrangler versions.... wow.
Unlimited is 4 door and longer but.... getting to where my need for a back seat is nil. Is it still worth going that route? I lean, yes "IF" I know I am going to lift and go 35's.
They have some very cool 2 door's that would still fit my dogs when the need arrises. Then you get into auto -vs- 6sp, hard top, dual top, soft top - list is almost endless. When did Jeep go transformer?
How do people decide? I guess when they have specific budget or needs (that would help narrow things down)

Rubi.....the Wrangler is awesome....but the classic 2 door. If you want the top down in the summer you need the soft top but it is cold and drafty in the winter so you will need to get the hard top as well. You could go hard top only but you kind of lose out on half the fun of a Jeep. Go for the 6 cylinder if it's still available as it has decent power...the 4 cylinder....not so much....I love a stick shift in a sporty car....but in the Wrangler I'd opt for the automatic as you don't drive it the same way.

Chris, so glad you were able to light up that pos with 50,000 v., that makes the chase all worth while. Glad you are okay and found your XM,looks like you will have to address the retention issue.

Rubi, the Wrangler hunt can get overwhelming indeed. Mine is as plain Jane as they come, very utilitarian though, plow snow, pull trailer, carry dogs (Jack and Daniels), toolbox and get me around the farm in 4WD. Although I have both hard and soft tops, I keep the hard top on so I can keep warm in winter and cool with AC in summer. If I feel the need for wind in my face the Harley full fills that need.

Straight six and 5 speed manual transmission get me around 20 mpg in summer, now start adding lifts, 35,s lockers, winches, lights, snorkel, exhaust, K and N filters your mileage will take a hit. However if you plan to off road, this extra stuff is a must, got to have the lockers so you can go further before you get stuck, then a winch to pull yourself out, then extra lighting to see where you got stuck, get the picture.
Now for highway driving the Rubicon as you know already comes ready for work and play. However as you also know entry level starts at $35000 so I've told you nothing you already do not know, good luck Scott.

Thanks buddy, I just got back from the gun shop and bought a molle 9mm magazine pouch. Xm fits a lot more snug in it, so hopefully that won't happen again. And yes lol, he took an 8 second ride from an X26 lol!!

Glad these parts of the story have a happy ending.

Now you can see why I go I with orange G10 and also an added benefit of a short (less potential to snag) lanyard for higher visibility in some situations. I would go orange on my 24 too if the bronze texture Ti wasn't such an ultimate favorite.

I'd never go Wrangler as my one and only. But as another / to use as designed...I could justify having one around. To be completely honest I love an old school open top Humvee over the Wrangler unless planning to drive it often.

You just really cannot get over the limitations of it's somewhat boxy design at high highway type speeds. I'm talking about the Wrangler because it's the more likely "drive it everywhere" vehicle.

But, for fun in the outdoors and a such, they are pretty cool to have as an option.

Glad to hear everyone is getting along well on the front porch! I'm a bit behind on the news around here, but it seems like everyone is doing well and that is always good news.

Glad you found it Chris! Shoulda given him an extra zap for the added anxiety ;)

Pretty good and insanely busy down here! Lots of personal stuff that really isn't all that interesting, but has taken a lot of time recently. Most of my free time has been divided between shooting and working out since I finally decided that A. it is actually good for me B. I'm naturally tall and lean, so I might as well try to be good looking and C. I've been looking at some interesting career options that being about to run more effectively might be helpful for. On a more interesting front, I still love my glock. I really am sort of embarrassed that I didn't take the general love of them around here into more serious consideration earlier. Between tweaking a flaw in my grip and really getting comfortable with the ergos of the glock my shoot has drastically improved really rapidly. Still not as good as I hope to be one day, but seeing good progress is always rewarding!
