That is so funny, I got a real chuckle out of that, because it is the truth! I,m going to the Plaza show next month, I know one thing I will not make that mistake again. Now the balancing act with the wife begins, however we get to spend 10 days with our daughter who lives in San Diego so she will have plenty of opportunity to wear the numbers off my Visa Card.
 
First Lottery I ever won (I think I told that story) .... walked up to the table (I was drooling and mumbling which is tough to do simultaneously)
I was pointing and saying, "Ooooh....Shiney......" mumble mumble.
Rob simply pointed at a Knife and said, "That's the one you want" and I agreed.

It was my FDE DLC XM24 that N2K simply.... can't stand the sight of ;)

Yesterday was a Cold dreary day around here in the Finger Lakes region of NY, around 50 and light rain. Blew out the head gasket on my honda while on the way to pick up new brake rotors and pads then had to go pay respects to friend whose mother passed away. So good day to peruse BF and check in to "our Front Porch" see what is going on, since Rubi started this thread forty one pages ago alot of ground has been plowed. Maybe today some of the lottery entrants may take a minute to see what goes on in our part of BF. If they spend some time looking here on this thread they could be treated to........

one of our leaders Rubi giving insightful information or politely showing an instigator the door while always keeping things fresh and moving forward
Maprik tantalizing us with his audio equipment and salt water aquariums
A guy from New Zealand, JayTaylor with his insane humor
Need2Know with his vast knowledge of anything Hinderer and warm hospitality to all
Hammer another mod with his Harley and giving us a glimpse into his caveronous man cave

Or you may be treated to "find the Hinderer" which could be hid in a pile of legos, mountain pass, front yard, basement studio, parking lot, front yard... I never did find it

You may see one of Rubi's signal fires in the backyard resembling the Hinderer horse logo (how does he do that?)

Or late night banter aided by a little bourbon

Chipmunk hunts and bears in the back yard

Or members supporting and wishing Lone-Wolfe a safe return from the "sandbox"

Chemdawg and Biker Trash with unbelievable pictures of their stable

And so many great people, RDA, Wowcoop, J81, Lotus Borg, Lone Wolf, and too many to mention, but all make this a great place to visit and share thoughts and pictures.

And of course the main reason we all come to this sub-forum, our appreciation of Rick Hinderer Knives, Rick who makes them and Rob O, the man with the keys to the shop. And of course we appreciate all that Lori does in support of Rick, and of course the whole crew at the "Ranch" and the great moderators that make this a nice place to be.

Go to a Show, the Ranch or a GTG and you see 3 dimensionally what we try and emulate here.

Plaza Show first then JC for me, we will have to figure a way to identify each other. Maybe a little get together for cocktails?
 
And I'm going to chime in here as a newbie to the Hinderer Herd. That you all definitely make a fine bunch of people that I am glad to be apart of here. Thanks for the warm welcomes, vast knowledge,and polite encounters!
 
Great post final option. You forgot to include yourself in there! You are a class act and a great contributor. Im sorry to hear about the Honda. That sucks buddy. At least the weather is a little nicer today in upstate ny. I just brought the kids to the zoo and had a blast! Watched a tiger catch a bird and eat it in front of like 20 little kids. Haha. Gotta love nature.
