My folks just left. Hit up the wife's family this am. Kids opened presents all day and just went down to sleep. Long ass day but it was awesome. Gotta love christmas time with little kids around. Its all new to them. Merry christmas to all and to all a GOOD NIGHT!
 
Sorry to learn about all that, Rubi. We are all tested from time to time, it's just the way of things. Sending you and yours my best.

Man Rubi... Sorry about the struggles. Praying for you! Been a hectic few weeks and I haven't been around much. Been focusing on finding a ring and not so much on knives. Asked her last night and she said yes! :)

Just wanted to stop in and wish you all a Merry Christmas. Hoping it was a special day for everyone here.

Glad everyone made it through Christmas, stress and all. All emotions get magnified and bad things take on bigger proportions. Sorry Rubi about your son's friend, condolences to them and family. Hope Pete is doing better, hate to see animals suffer!

However happy things are also enriched, congratulations DPRichard to you and yours, I also proposed to my wife many Christmas's ago and that Christmas magic is still there ( also a good reference to remember your anniversary).

It does bring into focus that which we should have in focus but given the frenetic pace of our lives in this age, sadly we do not.

Life can be altered or ended in the blink of an eye and often times as a result of the most minute mistake. As I have always tried to teach my children, "You will make mistakes and many of them - I will let you make because that is how you learn but... there can be mistakes that you will not walk away from. Those I will Not let you make IF I am there to see them coming - I will not always be there so you must learn to see those and avoid those yourself".
Sadly this young Man did not have an involved/present Father. By all accounts He was a fine young Man, about to graduate and go on to College and a Life now ended as a result of a momentary lapse in judgement and the crash of an automobile.
The single most dangerous act most (not in LE,Military,or First Responder) will ever engage in on a daily basis -operating a motor vehicle.
 
I 100% agree with you Rubi. I think that those are great words of advice for anyone. I do not have children yet. But I feel that way about a lot of other people and it truly speaks to the heart. We sometimes take so much for granted without really noticing. But when things like tragedy or misfortune happen. It helps me take a step back and truly think about how truly I am blessed.

Oh man there are two Rob Orlando's in this world? Haha! Shane you do crossfit? I'm the strength and conditioning coach at my school and I run a crossfit boot camp once a week for the kids. I do it with them as to lead by example. I find it stops them from whining so much when they see im doing while im busting their balls and smiling. Im not going to lie though. It's brutal! I love it. :)

I've done it off and on for a few years now. Currently I'm off ;) Between my last deployment and the move from HI to AK I got out of the swing of it, so to speak. Haven't found a good group here in Anchorage yet, plus the Boxes here are pricey. There's a pretty good CF setup in one of the empty hangars on base but don't like to CF solo, I need a group to do my best - it's a competitive thing for me, I find I push myself much harder in a group vs alone. That said, I agree it produces some great results!
 
Yes I am very competitive in everything I do as well. I always push myself harder with a gym buddy but it has to be someone who is there to workout not socialize. Crossfit is a great workout. I prefer to just lift then run but its good to switch it up a bit.
 
We're exactly alike - the gym is to work out, not hang out. I used to run a lot but find it bores me anymore, so I prefer to get cardio from CF (if at all ;) )..
 
I hate running but it's the best form of cardio for me. I just do the bare minimum to keep the fat off and retain lean muscle mass. I just throw on the iPod and crank it out as quickly as possible. My wife runs marathons. I don't know how she does it! Anything over a 15K is out of the question for me. BORING!
 
Other than some sprints for CF, I try to limit running to 1.5/year - my PT test..

I actually want to get one of those white oval stickers that has the number in it that says 1.5.. you know, instead of 26.2 or 13.1 ;)
