Out of Africa...K'roo.

We don’t get to see K’roo’s with patina. I’m eager to see this beauty get some use!

The Van Gogh project is 1 step closer, we were able to acquire the wood stock I showed earlier. So stoked!

I’m trying to decide on the pattern I want still for the Van Gogh project knife. I’m leaning towards a shadow bolster where the pivot can act as the “moon” if you will. A couple of patterns I’m now leaning to would be the…

* Sodbuster (does anyone have an example of a K’roo Sodbuster? I couldn’t find one.
* Wharncliffe Mamba Swayback
* Madison Barlow
* Lambsfoot (but I already have two by K’roo)
* Hawthorne Jack

In one sense, the sodbuster would be keeping in the theme I think and would be large enough to really give the wood a lot of real estate. Paired with a nice carbon raindrop damascus and IDK I think I’m insane.

If it were me, given that beautiful wood, I’d pick a pattern with plenty of real estate to show it off. 👍🏻

I agree, it’s why I’m really leaning towards a large sodbuster with shadow bolsters where the pivot can figuratively be the “moon”, plus the large blade would give a lot of real estate to the carbon raindrop damascus as well. It also seems to fit in really well with the whole “peasant painter” theme Van Gogh is known for. I think the path has revealed itself! William is apparently a big fan of Van Gogh so he’s as invested in this project as I am. Plus, I do not yet own a sodbuster and have been thinking about them anyway.

I did find an example of a K’roo sodbuster, this definitely is the way to go I think, it all just makes so much sense and ties the whole Van Gogh theme together, I’m really pumped up about this…

Now I'm thinking if Willem can do the pivot pin with a mother of pearl inlay that would be like a moon and the damascus back spring filed wiht the various phases of the moon. Oh man, how sweet would that be?

My original thought was his gunstock pattern (he committed suicide by gunshot) but that’s a bit too morbid as I think about it.

Likewise, you really don't want the handle to resemble the shape of an ear...😂
