Outrage: NYC DA Shakes Down Knife Retailers

This really sucks that one government thug can come in and strong arm all of us, and at taxpayers expense too!

The only solution I can think of is to go join www.kniferights.org right now and give as much money as you can!!!!

The NY Knife show moves to NJ? Look at the NJ state knife law at Mr Levine's link:

http://knife-expert.com/nj.txt

Seems worst then NY's!!! The possession and sale is banned and their so called "gravity knife" does not even have top lock open.....

Target in Queens (part of NYC) still has Victorinox SAKs and Leatherman tools(including one-hand opening Waves)in display case. Didnt have any one-handed Trekkers though that I saw a month or so ago.

emerson knives are no longer selling to NY; it's on their website now... too bad... better get 'em while we still can!

Indeed this is the beginning. Other money grubbing politicians will quickly follow suit.

I think what we need is a public advertisement on TV that educates people on the TRUTH of folding knives and their use in society.

Frankly, I don't think criminals would spend $200 on a folding knife just to stab someone with it. And while there ARE cheap folders, being deprived of them wouldn't stop criminals from committing crimes. The public must be deluded indeed if they think that this would have ANY impact whatsoever on crimes.

The knife is a means, and one of many. The PROBLEM is the criminal. Most of what you can find in a hardware store can be used to commit a crime, and quite a few of them can be easily concealed.

I believe the problem MAINLY concerns the obvious lack of REAL law enforcement, against those who ACTUALLY, use a knife in a crime. The cops don't want to get involved, nor does Cy Vance, in any real resolve, so they pick on the innocent "non-criminal" because they don't fight back. They then use this as a smoke screen, to hide the simple fact, they can't handle the crime, caused by the kaos the city "itself" creates.

Cy Vance is yet another nutball, who can't find his but with both hands and will not make a difference or create any serious change, just as it has been in New York for the last 50 plus years, if not forever. You can't take the crime out of a city, that is full of people running it with funds supplied by crime. EXTORTION in this case.

I remember as a kid sitting in a Yonkers deli drinking an egg cream when the Mafia showed up for their weekly cut. It was delivered in a white envelope and the atmosphere was poison. I was later cornered by a mob guy when I was 16 and working in a restaurant near by. "You join the union or you'll never work in NY again".
Point is, this is not a surprise. These people are so crooked they screw their socks on in the morning, graft is a way of life. Telling them NO is one of the happiest and manly things you'll ever do.

That would be a nice sig line.

BTW: Welcome to BF. I'm not really new;)

swamp, I can't claim to have coined an original thought. It was first said of Richard Nixon and I doubt it was true of him. I liked him, and he ably handled three wars during his tenure: the War in Vietnam, the Race War and the Cold War. His brother wrote an very interesting book "The Nixons: A Family Portrait" which casts them in a truer light.
If Nixon had shaved before the debate with Kennedy he may have won the election and we might have avoided Vietnam altogether... and Marilyn Monroe might still be alive. Anyway, I digress, the comment holds true for New York's "elite".

From the very first post in this thread, I am just wondering what this means:
"President PHRASECENSOREDPOSTERSHOULDKNOWBETTER"

The name is President Obama. Do you need to somehow alienate the Democratic or more Liberal members of this forum to make a point here?

New York City has always been a place were your second ammendment means nothing, and your real danger level is high. Yes crime has gone done dramatically over the last several years, but there are still many areas you would not want to live/work/shop in. The fact that this is effecting knife sale and ownership in the entire state, where upstate NY is often as rual as it gets, amazes me.

No surprise to me. Albany has always kowtowed to decrees from New Yawk City. There are many rural counties where law abiding citizens are routinely denied their 2nd amendment rights, and the NYSP is free to do whatever they please, searching citizens and their vehicles at their whim with no oversight.

Stay out of NY. :thumbdn::thumbdn:

The really funny part is that in his rush for the glory of being a really big time politico he has made it impossible for him to be elected anywhere but NYC. Knife owners will not forget.

What higher calling could a person ask for than to hope that one day he is elected major of NYC, the center of the universe.

Just joined kniferights...should have done it sooner, I'm an idiot.

This is INSANE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So it's finally the case where it's more legal to own a handgun in nyc than a perfectly legal folding knife??????????????????

I understand money is needed to hire lawyers, and I'll donate my part, but why can't all the knife company's come together (along with the NRA) and beat this thing like they beat that stupid customs fiasco a while back????????

And finally,

A BIG F. U. to you Vance! I know power-hungry scum like you have nasty skeletons in your closet...I can't wait until you get your own media moment you mfer!!!

I am sure the knife companies are digging very deep into this one. I greatly appreciate you joining kniferights. I am also a memeber. We "TRUE KNIFE LOVERS" need to offer financial and verbal support for Doug Ritter and this extreme challange kniferights.org faces. This will not be an easy fight, but we have the best of the best working very hard, trying to keep us free.

Man this really makes my adrenaline start pumping. I googled nyc vance knives and almost threw up. I will be donating more money ASAP, to kniferights!
