Pale Horse Fighter

Kyle keep doin what your doing. I have one of your bowie's you received an award for that you had sold on Ebay a couple of years ago. When I compare that one to this one you are evolving in leaps and bounds! Congrats on a fine piece. That sheath is really cool also. Can post a picture of the bowie in the sheath so we can see the contrast between the two.
Thanks

I liked the knife VERY much as it is, but I would agree that it looks BETTER with the shortened ricasso.

I like the sheath and think it compliments the knife well. I vote for a pic showing the knife and sheath together:D

I held off on posting because I wasn't sure how to articulate my thoughts about all the stuff that came up on pg 3 and 4.

While I know deep down STeven's comments are trying to help Kyle, I also know that on the surface that's pretty hard to see.

PERSONALLY, I don't see anything wrong with the accolades. Kyle just turned 18 and he's turning out work that many seasoned makers could only dream of doing.

While there might be a few things I would have done differently on this knife, that doesn't mean it would make it any better... just different. Sure, I'd have made the ricasso shorter like in John's photochop... but that would just make it my preference... certainly not right or wrong.

As per the handle and the blocky comments. I think to a certain extent it's the nature of the beast with a frame handle and ivory. I would sure never say John White's handles are blocky, but he does a lot of handles in this style, and the shape just kind'a has to be similar.

And I don't think Kyle is trying to be the next Moran, or that anyone wants him to be. From my perspective, it looks like he's taken influence from some great makers: Jerry Fisk, Bailey Bradshaw, John White... etc, and is trying to make work that is all his own.

Constructive criticism is fine, but I don't see any reason to condem a round of applause following the posting of a knife of this caliber. Whether it's your personal cup of tea or not, you can't deny it's a complicated piece that was put together very well. :)

Keep it up Kyle :)

Very well said Nick, I agree with every word.

Kyle, your leather skills are progressing nicely, not that it surprises me.

Thanks for the comments Nick.

Here are two pictures of the knife in the sheath. I'm sorry about the photos, we're having the good camera cleaned.
