Para 2 Sprint - Foliage Green w/ Elmax

If I spend $300 it wont be with BB.Elmax is mainstream and the knife is worth less than $150 in my eyes.

I completely agree, glad I'm not the only one. I guess collectors might have to have one, but from a user stand point, Elmax has me very non-plussed.

I'm not upset with BBS either. If you don't want to pay the price then that's your choice. If anything, they're just making this sprint PM2 even more exclusive and sought after. These sprints aren't supposed to be dirt cheap and easy for everyone to have.

Just saw on FB … looks like BBS saw the light. The PM2 is now available by itself for ~$200.

That's close to how much I paid for my M390 CF Military and my Manix 2 XL CF S90V that I thought was a little steep. If you collect and must have every Pm2 then may the force be with you.I will pass. I really have enjoyed all the PM2 sprints/exclusives and feel quite blessed to own the ones I have. It has always felt good and has been fun to try the exotic steels of Spyderco sprints/exclusives at reasonable prices if you find one at a dealer.I have to draw the line at some point. I feel like this is a one step forward and two steps back scenario with BBS.I use Elmax knives on a regular basis and although I like the steel, I will save my money for the Native 5 CF S110V and the Unicorn Para 2 fluted CF.I also believe there will be some cool Para 2 laminates (K390?) at some point. The cost of this sprint even at $200 plus shipping is too much in my eyes.

I agree with you. I'll pass at this price.

I do find myself wondering, is this really a BBS issue? Or high MSRP issue? I hope that the market has settled on a price ceiling for these Sprints at this point.

Maybe, because I'm a Spyderco newbie and maybe because I love the PM2, I just ordered the Elmax once it became unbundled.

I would of rather paid 150 for the cts 204p version. Even 200 for that one. I have enough Elmax. I'd rather try something new

The difference between BBS and the Ebay flippers is that BBS has a trade business name to protect.
I guess since people have shown that they will pay stupid $$$ for Para2s BBS is just cutting out the middle man and gouging you direct.
A bad decision in the long term

I love the PM2 but what I love is the Value it represented. I paid $95 for my first all black dlc and you couldn't ask for a better knife for that .
$200 for Elmax that's crazy at that price s90v but Elmax :jerkit:

I'm not wild about paying MSRP but I've paid that plenty of times buying direct from Spyderco. I've foot at least two of all the other Para2 sprints so I went ahead and bought a pair to keep the set complete.

I'm glad to see the knife has been made available in a *slightly* less insulting offer, for those of you who really want this one.

The initial slap in the face has soured me on this one, so I think I'll pass. At the $200 price point, lotta options.
And Elmax isn't exactly "exotic" enough to justify that kinda hype.

Much as I love the PM2, we're getting into ZT territory here...

Agreed. I'd much rather get a ZT @$200 than an elmax pm2. Don't get me wrong, I love my PM2, but its not THAT awesome :)

There is a mighty fine ao Elmax cf model that was recently released for about $150 shipped.Very nice. The green para 2 is my edc Para2.I waited a long time and my patience paid off and was money well spent. My green para is awesome considering it was around $150.

$200 is steep for a Elmax PM2, but cheap for a limited edition PM2 in the current market. I'd consider it if I didn't already have a 204p.

The market has shown repeatedly that people will pay ridiculous prices for some limited edition production knives these days. Honestly I'm surprised it's taken this long for dealers (and manufacturers) to start increasing prices on pre-orders etc. You have to figure dealers know that a lot of guys are buying limited edition knives only to flip them for significant profit, that certainly tells them they are selling them too cheap.

The popularity of the PM2 is probably part of it, you can still find Manix 2 XL S90V CF knives for basically the pre-order price, so some sprint's are just not selling that well, but in terms of sprints the PM2 is a $$$ monster.

Totally.

There are those guys out there who are always going to try and get their hands on any PM2 they can, so they can post the pics here and make us all jealous of their awesome collection :P
And there's always gonna be guys who will take advantage of those collector guys.
If BBS's tactics allow the former to add to their collection while putting the latter out of business, that's fine with me.
BBS is just cutting out the middle-man.
