I have a question. Our ISP is upping the game from 10mbps, to 100. I purchased a new cable modem, and router that will handle the new speeds. Been years since I've had to do a setup for these items. Do I connect the modem first, then call the ISP to give them the MAC number, then hook up the router and install it? I feel like an idiot. Maybe I'll get my son in law over here to do it.

I did this a few years back. My memory of it isn't flawless, but I don't remember this being a big deal do to at all.

The steps, as I remember it, were to connect the new modem and make sure that all the lights/etc come on. Then calling up tech support so they can activate/add the modem (as you said, you'll need the MAC address). There may have been a modem reboot or two in the next portion, but then after that, you just plug in your router as you would normally, and then configure that as you want.

You could have the router setup before then honestly, either by using the old modem, or using the new one before it is activated (just won't have internet access obviously).

Thanks man, appreciate it. Was studying how to do all that stuff today. The router comes with a disc, with the setup manual on it. It seems pretty straightforward.

Been actually trying that!

Also using some of this hot sauce. Made locally. Each bottle contains up to 16 ghost peppers. Freaking hot. Seems to have mellowed out a bit since I first opened the bottle a few months ago. I could barely handle a drop when I initially got it.

Didn't know I made hot sauce but I'm glad you're enjoying it.

Finally ready to review my Crawford AEB-L paring knife.

Handle is so comfy in hand.
Blade is very sharp and straight.
He gave a discount due to "different pattern on tops of scales"

It had a couple other cosmetic blemishes - burr on butt, and mis-grind or inclusion of some type at heel. But they don't effect its usability.
Easily removed the burr with fine file and belt sander. Not worried about heel.
Tried to get a shot of it:

Anyway, it was razor sharp as promised. Even grind lines. Slicing tomatoes and sectioning grapefruit - it's like cutting through air.
For delicate and in-hand work, this is now the first thing I grab.
One other interesting detail, when I set it down, the handle is naturally inclined to rest blade-up. So gotta watch out for that. But pretty much as soon as I finish cuttng I clean, strop, and put it away.

If it's not any trouble tjswarbrick your recipe is sounding good.

I remembered I've been remiss in posting this up.
Had it on Saturday - and it was delicious.

20oz ground turkey (or ground chicken),
1 t olive oil
2 14oz cans white beans - drained
2 14oz cans creamed corn (we use creamed white corn when we can find it)
1 large onion - chopped
1 bell pepper (I prefer red) - seeded, de-veined, and chopped
1 T cumin
2 Serrano peppers (Jalapeno or canned chilis acceptable, but serranos are the best) - seeded and diced
2C milk

In a large saucepan or dutch oven, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add turkey and brown.
I usually season the turkey with salt, pepper, and the Cumin. Wife waits until later.
Add onions - sauté until tender. Just a couple minutes.
She'll just dump the rest in at this point. I usually add the peppers and let 'em cook up a bit.
Once the peppers have some color to 'em, add the rest.
Heat until just below boiling, turn down to low, and simmer for 8-10 minutes.

Enjoy with some cornbread and honey.

Started growing a goatee in early December. Decided to let the full beard grow out. Have only had a full beard once, when I was 17-18. Seems strange seeing myself with a full beard. Me tash is getting long enough to turn up the ends pretty good. I look like a different person.

The Warrior The Warrior I couldn't stand the itchy so I shaved mine off. My Smart a** son said I just couldn't take the weight of manhood!!!!
Can you believe that crap how dare an Infantry ground pounder talk to a Tanker like that.
Yeah, how dare he, haha.

I wonder how long I'll be able to stand mine, especially when it starts getting hot out.

I started growing mine out over a year ago (my genes do not allow for fast growth), even during 'hot' weather it's not really that bad; the only issue I have is that it whistles in the wind when I'm going fast while riding my bike, it's amusingly annoying when I'm trying to concentrate on whatever book/podcast I'm listening to on the ride.
