Well, the house hunt appears to be finally ending. Hung out with the home inspector yesterday and aside from a few minor things, the house is solid. Hoping to close by April 13th.

The view doesn't suck... Wish I had brought a fishing pole with me.

Nice! Congrats man.

I would strongly recommend flood insurance being that close (both vertically and horizontally) to a flowing creek.

Oh yes. In fact, the lender won't give us a dime unless we have flood insurance. Which is obscenely expensive, by the way, and likely why the house has been on the market for a little while.

The neighbor said her place flooded in '96 (which makes sense, the "Great Flood of the PNW" happened that year), but the water didn't get into her house. Just the garage and crawl space. The inspector informed me that the house we are looking at shows no signs of any sort of water damage or even any staining, so that is pretty encouraging.

Nice! Congrats man.

Thank you, my friend, we are pretty excited.

Meant to show off my new EDC bag that I picked up earlier this month. I wanted something a bit lighter and more compact than my 5.11 72 Rush for everyday carry and after some research, some contemplation on my daily needs and what not, I decided to try out the Maxpedition Jumbo Versipack.

When I have a little bit of time, I will do a more thorough review and breakdown of it, but here it is. I have only had it for a couple of weeks but I have been very happy with it so far.

I have a UTG knockoff of that bag -- it's a pretty handy size.
I have been pretty impressed with UTG stuff. Those guys go out every weekend and beat the snot out of there gear running paintball. Holds up pretty darn good!!!

Very nice and congrats Padruig!

The air bags didn't deploy. I hit it fairly hard, on the side, but I thought the airbags were still supposed to deploy with a side hit? Not sure. I'm a bit stiff, and headachy, but I'm gonna attempt to go to work.

So sorry about your cousin. 62 is too young.

Got T-boned in Kansas a few years back in a rented Mazda 3....couldn't get the driver's side door open, but the airbags didn't deploy then, either...probably because they didn't need to. I got a little banged up, seatbelt burn, but generally OK...I figured there just wasn't enough force to trip the deployment mech.

glad you came out ok, dubz. Crashes are no fun at all; vehicles can be repaired, sold or bought, but human parts are more finicky to tune. Back when I had a sports car, I was rammed on the side by a big truck and slammed it into a pole, not wearing a safety belt. I was glad to walk out of the car with just a couple of scratches.

how do you peeps keep track of your blades? I used to write them down on a legal pad, but decided today to start a file on the laptop, a grid that list origin, maker, model, quantity and a brief description. First blades on the grid are the BKs, of course. Man, this is gonna take a while...

I wish I kept track of mine....but there are too many, and there's the ADD, and really....do I want to actually know how much money I've [STRIKE]invested[/STRIKE] spent?

Friday was my birthday. Went to Bahama Breeze with some friends and family. Ate delicious food and drank some delicious drinks. I love their mango jalapeno mojito.

Then over to my brothers house where we partied until 1am.

Saturday some relaxing and then some bowfishing off the creek bank.... More like scouting... Didn't see anything worth shooting. But still a good time.

Pretty good weekend. Too bad it's over. :(

Looks like i got a few extra sets of stickers left... Need to figure out where, or who, they should go to...

Hell, I'm just glad to see you're still alive...Happy Birthday!

Damn WW.
Happy B-Day. Sorry to hear about the rest.

My own B-Day was Wednesday. Repalced a 21-year-old Stumpjumper with a cracked frame with a new 2017 Stumpjumper. Went for an 18 mile ride that night. Sadly only 7 were in the dirt - rest was to and from. But I got to remember how it felt, check the new equipment, watch the sunset from the top of the open space, and saw at least half-dozen bunnies on the trail before the coyotes got to 'em. Was pretty sweet.

Next night was spend setting up the sound board and mic's for my daughter's elementary school play. First run-through was today. Went okay, but had to move 1/2 the mic's afterward 'cause the producer expects perfection but cannot define her needs prior to trying it out. Argh.

Anyway, in the probably 4 hours of "free" time I had this weekend, in addition to the lawn mowing and general yard cleanup I do every week, I was going to trim an unruly oak tree. Asked the wife for some help - spotting, handing me tools, that sort of thing. We discover two giant ficus trees growing amongst the camelias. One about 4" dia and 12 ft tall. No biggie. Other 8" dia and over 20' tall.

Her - "lets just chop 'em down. It'll be easy." She did help chop 'em down at least. Then "I've gotta finish my report cards." Meanwhile, 800 lbs of tree to break down, move off neighbor's property, and try to fit into yard waste container.

Best part was stripping it down with the 20. Was touching the can when I started:

Except for the part where (possibly influenced by the 15 year single-malt) I was holding the stick below where I needed to chop it.
Cut my new leather glove:

Could've been much worse, methinks.

21 year old Stumpjumper, you say? Could it have been an M2 Stumpy? Hopefully you went to the Specialized dealer and got it replaced under their lifetime warranty....I had a '96 M2FS Stumpjumper that the frame broke on, at the top tube/seat tube weld (Specialized replaced it)....and then my '99 Specialized Allez Pro M4 road frame also broke - and Specialized offered to replace the whole bike (10 years later) but ended up applying that cost to a Tarmac Pro SL frame and fork (in carbon fiber....mmMm..) that I have not ever regretted making up the cost difference on, nearly 10 years later. Lucky about your glove taking (most of) the hit instead of your thumb....tho that looks like it still hurt a bit.

well, damn...I forgot to add a $ column to that grid...

I remember looking at a stumpjumper like 25 years ago, still in high school, drooling and dreaming of riding a bicycle with a SHOCK ABSORBER!! ( I had only ridden what my parents could afford, and my first mtb was a huffy that I sure beat the tar out of). Right now quite happy with my Niner, but those Stumps sure are good looking bikes.

I'm still (occasionally) riding my '96 Specialized, M2FS...except for the original frame, wheels, RockShox MAG-21 fork-sorber, bars, headset, stem, brakes, shifters, levers, cranks & BB, seatpost, saddle, pedals and....oh yeah, derailleurs! I think that's all of it...yeah. It's not even technically the same bike I bought in '96, it's most definitely not the same, right down to....well, everything. Some of it happened when the frame broke in '98 - they changed sizing from odds to evens, for some reason (I went from a 17" to 18" - whatevs  ) and I had to swap some parts....short story is, the old steed has gotten more than a few treatments of mechanical Botox, IYKWIM. The wheels still roll in the right direction, when I get the gumption...

Yep. Stumpy was a 96 M2FS. Fracture on the right chainstay right behind the bottom bracket. LBS says "Bring it in. We've got a great relationship with Specialized. We'll get it taken care of."
Long story short, 21 years and 4 houses latee, I don't have the original receipt. Shop I bought it at is long out of business.
They didn't do diddly for me.

Still, new 2017 Stumpjumper Comp was the best deal on a suitable replacement. Keeping the receipt this time.

for flooding, i've seen an inflatable "wall" that is actually filled with water, sort of like a backwards inflatable pool. if you google around for that, the images are IMPRESSIVE.

i'd look into ways into maybe fortifying against a flood, and keep the good stuff away from that side of the house :D looks good however...

actually, it looks like it's moving fast enough to install one of those hobby water wheels for power :D or a pig wheel :D

Thanks fellas!

They got me taking a beta blocker to help reduce arrhythmia. They didn't want to use an actual anti-arrhythmia drug because my resting heart rate is as low as 42bpm... And they're worried it might drop too low... But the elevated HR goes into the 180s... Anyways... I got 3 months before we check again to see if the medication is working or we have to do the heart ablation "surgery"

Enough about that... Did some off roading this morning and some bowfishing tonight... With some whiskey.. of course... Only shot 2 fish but still had fun... And since I'm the only one of the 3 guys to shoot anything... I'll take it!! I got pictures... Just too lazy to upload right now LOL
