I guess the PM2 is love or hate.
I've had at least 8 all the real deal and all awesome. I have only two now and only use the black one (on the left) a lot and touch it up on the SM white stones often. It's a razor. I love love the damn thing and will NEVER let the S.O.B go. OP, does yours have milled liners? Show a clearer pic of the Golden, Co

Of all knives to avoid on eBay the PM2 is top of the list. There ar so many fakes and eBay rarely does anything about it. Many times the sellers themselves are unaware that their knife is fake. Like others have said, a real PM2 would never perform like this. If you plan to get into this hobby you will learn quick to only deal with reputable dealers. Hope you get it sorted out.

You can cut a LOT of cardboard with a Spyderco edge and not affect it very much.

Very interested to know how this turns out. I know if I was in the op's shoes I'd ship it off to Spyderco and see what they say.

If the Ebay listing said protection guarantee you will get your money back. If not did you go through Paypal with your prepaid card? I'd go through them before sending it to Spyderco. They still may want the information because someone is selling a fake with their name on it, but I'd start with Ebay.

On multiple occasions, I have had issues with the item I ordered off of Ebay (from items not turning out to be remotely close to resembling the initial description to issues with return etc.).
This is why I never purchase any items above certain amount from sources like Ebay.

and when i ship it to spyderco and they say its a fake i wont get it back with little to no compensation.

About your only hope of being made whole on this deal is if the eBay seller or eBay themselves do the right thing and allow you to return it for a refund. On the bright side, you have learned a lot and gotten educated about quality knives and how to buy and sell them - one would hope!

You have my best wishes that you are able to return it for a refund. If not, you don't have much to lose by sending it to Spyderco. As you have learned, the knife itself isn't worth much, nor very usable.

Good thing your knife is too dull to cut corners on the next knife you buy. Merry Christmas.

I can see a few things that set off alarm bells in my head regarding that knife being authentic. This is why you buy from reputable dealers, especially with knives as widely counterfeited as the PM2.

Why should Spyderco compensate you? You didn't buy from an authorized dealer... This is one of a multitude of reasons why you should buy from an authorized dealer.

Now you are upset with Spyderco, when they have done nothing wrong.

You tried to save a buck, now YOU get to deal with getting your money back, that was one of the risks you took, when not buying from an authorized dealer.

Shop around... There are deals to be had at plenty of actual dealers...

OP, I'm curious about what you paid for the knife. A standard black/satin Para2 can be had for around $108 from a reliable dealer. At that price it's a great deal IMO.

I understand that you feel had. Sometimes that happens in life. There are, always have been and always will be, people out there that will take advantage of you, either intentionally or inadvertently. It's happened to me before.
In my own experience I found you just need to suck it up, take it on the chin, and consider the money lost (if indeed your are unsuccessful in getting a refund) to be the price of a lesson well learned. And move on. The real loss is if you let it prevent you achieving the objective you started out with.

I hope you do get a refund.

That does look like a fake. Wondering how much you paid?

A couple of things..

Its not Spydercos responsibility to cover you if you bought a fake. Why would it be? Its not their fault you bought a fake. With all the available information on this subject you should have done your due diligence before buying off Ebay. Its been said over and over and over how Ebay is the worst place for fakes/counterfeits..especially Para2's.

Why would Spyderco send it back if its verified to be a fake? Their is already enough problems with fake Para2's. Sending a verified fake back out the door to the original owner would be pretty stupid on their part.

You could call them up and explain your situation to them nicely and they might do something for you..but they have no obligations to do so.

If it was me I would chalk it up to a learning experience and buy a real Para2 from a trusted dealer. Here's a good place to start..

If you bought a fake this has nothing to do with Spyderco. You might as well be done with benchmade, Kershaw and McDonald's too. There's no correlation.

I'll never understand why people have such a hard time owning their mistakes.

Just curious. What brand knives are you going to buy from now on?
