Paramilitary 3 PM3!!! official pics and release date

about 1/2 in less handle smaller more edc gentleman folder size... the main reason i dont edc a PM2 is the handle to blade ratio is bad
looks like the pm3 will solve any issues with my edc

Totally agree. I will carry the pm3.

$130 is very reasonable for a quality knife by a quality knife maker with good steel and a great locking system. Look at the Sage series, and many other offerings from Spyderco. $130 would be a very fair price.

No - those sages have either titanium or cf scales. The pm3 has g10 correct? $120 would be pushing the limit.

looks awesome,I heard Tenacious and PM2 were an item and I guess its true :)

If I didn't already have a pm2 and was debating a purchase, I would still get the pm2. Just like the overall aesthetic more.

Count me in! I have always admired the brilliance of the pm2 design but have refrained from buying due to size. I went the native 5 and sage 3 route. I find the native to be a little short on usable edge length, and I find the sage 3 to be too wide in the pocket. This could be perfection

This is exactly what I was thinking when I requested the specs. If so, I'm not sure I'm going to be a fan. I was hoping for a delica sized type blade with a compression lock.

What is so great about the stop pin that you guys are excited about? I'm not a military/paramilitary guy so I'm not familiar with the innovation there from the old model.

Well the Sage 2 with its Titanium scales is $180 and I don't consider g10 with a laminate CF layer to be actual CF so to me that doesn't really count. I'm just looking at it in comparison to other knives out there and $130 doesn't seem to be out of the range to me. Granted I've been on a high end knife buying spree for the last 6 months, so it doesn't take long for $130 to seem cheap when you're getting used to $300+ being the norm. It changes your entire outlook on things. Not that it's a good thing at all. Lol. I had sold a PM2 a while back and wanted another so I ordered one last week, and was tickled to get a new knife for $133. This has been a bad hobby to get into.

Well, you can't see where the handle ends exactly in that picture. But using a conservative estimate of the end, the blade to handle ratio is actually worse on this knife than the PM2. The blade is about 5% smaller in relation to the handle than the PM2 blade from my approximate measurements.

Also not sure what's wrong with the stop pin? Would it be better if it was a screw? Would it be better if there were no screws? Should Spyderco start making art knives that are only looked at and never dip such mundane tasks as cutting?

Too small for me but I'm sure plenty will like it.

Well it's just a precision part that is cool.

IMO though, I dislike the current Military and Paramilitary stop pins which have fasteners. Every time you open the knife you're jarring those screws, eventually they will loosen. As many know the action of the blade on the Millie/PM and even the lockup/stick can be affected by the pivot and the stop pin screws. The new stop pin is technically a "floating" pin, although it fits very snug, which eliminates tuning the action by adjusting FOUR screws.

knifebros explanation is

btw, somewhere I read the smaller version of PM 2 would not be called PM 3, but Minuteman. Am I wrong?

Meh.
Looks clean and ergonomic.
However, it doesn't seem to solve the biggest issue I have with the "Military" line.

Pocket hog.

That profile while closed looks like it will be just as fat as it's big brothers.

Oh baby I can't wait for this one! I'm not the type that gets too crazy over new releases but I'm pretty pumped on this one. Anyone know what options there are for handle colors?

So its officially called a Para 3 not a Paramilitary 3...but there wasn't a Para 1 or 2. That's a bit odd.
I personally think it looks a little strange but I'm not sure why. I think it will be really good in hand.
I'll probably get one. Big fan of the PM2.

Im pretty excited about this one too, hope they make a dlc one for me out the gate.
