Paramilitary 3 PM3!!! official pics and release date

knifebros explanation is

btw, somewhere I read the smaller version of PM 2 would not be called PM 3, but Minuteman. Am I wrong?

Minuteman was originally chosen as the name but I think Spyderco discovered a knife already called the minuteman.

The Para 3 may not be the Paramilitary 3! :)

I am confused. Thought Para 2, Paramility 2, and PM 2 all refer to the same knife. Was I wrong?

"Para 2" is short hand by knife nuts for "Paramilitary 2". Kind of like "Millie" for the Military. The Para 3 is officially named the "Para 3" not "Paramilitary 3".

Edit: This is how I believe the progression goes

Thx. That illustrates well. Is it safe to assume that there will be no official Paramilitary 3 in the future? If so, I think eventually many folks will call this Para 3 as Paramilitary 3 or PM 3.

Finally! I really hope they release some color options. The blade steel is meh but could be worse :)

This is what I gathered from discussions about it on various forums over the past months. To be honest things could have changed since then. But given that the name is not Paramilitary 3 but just Para 3... Also the provided literature so far reads

The Blade is fully flat ground CPM-S30V done in the Para-familiar shape. It's satin finished and three inches in length to accommodate most locations' knife laws.

"Para-familiar shape" says to me that is is not a Paramilitary 3. If it was the Paramilitary 3 it wouldn't be "para-familiar" it would be the Paramilitary.

I think its more in line with the "lil'" knives. The Lil' Lum did not phase out the regular Lums. Simply the same knife but smaller. The Para 3 brings one of Spyderco's most popular models into legality for areas that are 3" or less.

I think a PM3 could definetly be in the future. That one would be more like the current PM2 but with updates.

Hopefully someone with more knowledge can set the record straight :D

Makes some sense to me by looking at the names closer...

Military--->ParaMilitary--->Para 3

Same lineage, progressively smaller

maybe you should tell knifecenter
they have it listed as
Spyderco C223GP Paramilitary 3 Folding Knife 3" S30V Satin Plain Blade, Black G10 Handles

Smaller version of the PM2? Oh man.. I recently bought the Sage 5 for the same reasons. Might have to pick up a PM3 as well.
