I agree OZ, I think thats why this style of knife usually has a quillon and bolsters, more room for engraving. It is super easy to dovetail bolsters and handles. All you do is put the platen on your belt grinder and tilt it to around 45 degrees in relation to your tool support. Then grind the bolsters down till the egde is even. If noone else wants to do it, I can just dovetail some brass and send it along with the blank. I always attach the front bolster, then the handles, then the rear bolsters. That way you're assured of a tight even fit without resanding the hanldes and the threat of taking too much off. I'm putting too much of my ideas in this knife, and thats opposite of the whole point in making it a pass around knife. Heres what we need to do. Each person do what ever he feels, even if its changing the shape of the blade. He sends it on to the next person and they do the same thing. No preplanning or anything. That way each maker will truely be adding their own touch to the knife. So forget the dovetails unless the guard and bolster maker decides to go that route, and lets try not discussing what each will do. I think it would be more spontaneous that way. Whew!!!!! Take care!
