strange, i never noticed before how the scales on the second one down on my pic are cut in front. this is an older pic, i have a couple more of these shba's, i'll check them.
i also was able to get one of the very last in a black crinkle finish.

The one on the left (the only tube fastener SHBA in the pic) is crinkle coated.
I noticed the different shaped scales on your's quite some time ago.
Papathud has one with unique shaped handle slabs as well.
Gotta love those Badgers. :thumbup:

Well… its Friday and my time is up with Dave’s pass around SHBA. :( I had an insanely busy week work wise, and really didn’t get to try it out as much as I wanted.
So, I thought about calling Jaxx to see if he would mind if I took a little more time with it… :o
but I figured it’s easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission. :eek:
So… SORRY bro, but I couldn’t let it go! Don’t worry… I’ll make sure I ship it out in time for you to have at least a day with it. ;)

I did get to use it a little bit… put it on kitchen duty one night, and I wanted to see how it would do with light chopping on one of the nice afternoons we had this week. It did a beautiful job in the kitchen with food prep… I cut up all the veggies and shiny flat meat for a chefs salad (sliced deli meat for those of you asking WT?... HUH?). I didn’t take any pics of this… but I could photochop this baby onto a pic of some veggies if it would make you feel any better. :D

For the light chopping… not what it’s designed for, but handled the task just fine. The rear lanyard hole/pummel did bite my finger a couple of times trying a 3 finger grip… Finally found a comfy grip after a few chops. Here’s a few pics of it perched on its kill… enjoy.

Lil' Foo: great pics man. How would you rate the handle feel and comfort level as compared to the other BA handles such as the Ergos, Tacs, etc...?

I've never held another badger before this one. :o I was really hoping that one of my BA TACs would come in before I had to send the SHBA off to Jaxx... It would have been great to compare them. Well, as luck would have it... my CG BA TAC w/ standard handles was sitting on my door step when I got back from dropping off the SHBA at the post office. :rolleyes:

Anyway... I've never held any of the ergos either. The only thing I could compare it to would be an old SHSH with smooth hand shaped handles. There is nothing like the feel of the older handles IMHO. One of the reasons I really wish I scored a Knobo FBM Proto… the smooth handles on a Fusion grip… that and the drop point blade like the FSHs. But I think you all know that story. :grumpy: So… I’ve been thinking about putting some new smooth slabs on my CG FSH… smooth bolts and all. :thumbup:

The SHBA was perfect in the hand... felt very natural. The balance point is actually just behind the first smooth bolt (which is just behind where your index finger naturally gravitates to in grip). The balance point combined with the deep belly in the bottom of the grip makes the knife roll back and rest securely in your hand. It’s very cool! The only drawback is the pummel with a 3 finger chopping grip… but like I said, not really what the knife was designed for. Now that I have the TAC… this problem is definitely solved… but it’s just not the same. Maybe some smooth slabs for the BA TAC too. :eek: :D

:grumpy::mad::grumpy: Priority #1 tomorrow. I sat here all day waiting for him. :thumbdn: NO PINK SLIP anywhere to be found.(He never came to the door, the bastid.) A few weeks ago he leaves a FAT package from Busse sitting by the garage... Unsigned, HEAVY insurance... He's really getting me nervous about these boxes. Tomorrow after I claim the package, I'm gonna ask to see the super to file a complaint.

I have one of those too... But thankfully she only fills in for my regular. The temp wont even attempt to deliver... goes straight for the slip in the mail box. Pisses me off every time. :mad:

Yep, Jaxx is a HOG. Most hard core hog trick I've ever seen... and blame it on the poor USPS courier:D
