Ok... We're BACK on track, and I'll post more pix as I take 'em... Today's weather bites, hopefully tomorrow's will be BETTER for outside pix and a li'l slicing & dicing...!

Here's Mulder's SHBA next to a BATAC, Enjoy! Thanxx Lil' Foo, you can toss those receipts now. Nice packaging!

Jaxx,

Glad to see that you finally have the SHBA in hand.
Thanks for posting pics and the comparison shot looks great.

Now go give that puppy a workout. :foot:

Great pics Jaxx.

The BATAC comparison gives me a real sence of its size, I've got a BATAC but never held a SHBA.

Looks like the perfect size.

After this knife bounces back and forth between Skunk's place ten times, I should have it by this time next year....

Although I haven't had a chance to actually USE it yet, I have managed to snap some pix to hold y'all over until I get some usage pix, tomorrow or Sunday, 'cause it moves on come Monday...
Here's a few glamour shots, LOL :D

Well, I finally got a chance to put this sweet SHBA to work. First thing you notice when you pick it up is the heaviness of the handle. I mean, WOW, heh-heh... HEFTY. It feels great in the hand, and at first I was actually concerned about the smoothness of the handle slabs... I thought maybe I'd lose my grip on it, BUT it was quickly forgotten about as it soon became apparent that this wasn't an issue. This knife feels SOLID and ready for duty. Like Lil' Foo's assesment, this blade is more for stabbing & slicing. I only used it to chop wood which it WILL chop, and pretty good for its size. It does pinch a little in the 3 finger grip style, however after a few times, I found the right variation of the grip for me and this happened no more. The sweet spot (for me) is really close to the choil. But... it WILL chop! I found some dead maple for the Badger to bite into. Still standing these 2 thick saplings were dead, but seasoned and pretty hard and the Badger ate them up! All in all, I liked it, and am pleased and thankful for the opportunity to handle one. BTW... A fair amount of chopping and such & the edge is still very sharp. A2 is some decent steel! :D Here's the pix...

This particular sapling started to split, and the Badger acted as an excellent wedge!

Jaxx,

Thanks for the update and glad that you enjoyed your time with the SHBA.
I hope everyone on the passaround enjoys it as much as you and Foo have.
Now that Steelnut has graciously given up his spot I will probably be adding another name to the list from those that have expressed interest.

Greg,

Batter up.

Well, it wuz FUN but now it's GONE...
Leaving fond MEMORIES to CARRY on...
Bidding FAREWELL after CHEWING some WOOD...
It quickly MOVES ALONG, like a good BADGER should!!!

Thanxx again, Mulder! It was fun and an interesting study of an older Busse knife up close. Educational at the very least. :)

Greg45, Mulder...
