Yes, you are right, Will. I would have to check my Goins manual to be more precise; but from general memory I think Elliot/Germany closed their doors in the 1910’s or thereabouts. Thanks.

Edit: Just checked upon getting home ... Elliot Cutlery Corp / Germany looks to have been in business from 1880-1918.

My point was, an even grey ain’t never going to happen, not with use anyway…
I have a few knives on a display I carved which are greying nicely and evenly unused, though.

A lot of the color of the patina in pics is dependent on lighting/angle/exposure. The same knife posted above with colorful patina, now has a more uniform patina. Pics taken at the same time.

I like when the colors pop, but uniform grey is ok too.
