I think you'll like it. I got the same one from the Christmas pack and I've had no issues with it. It may have a softer steel than the standard model but it was still razor sharp out of the box and with a little oil and messing with it flips just as fast as an assisted knife.

I'm not sure it has died, but it is sure been kicked along for some time. I was started almost 4 months and over 9300 posts ago, and it is good. It got a lot of people thinking less about themselves and more about others, online and at home. I know I have thoroughly enjoyed it.

But, a lot of the time we as humans tend to hold on some things past their season.

Personally, I feel it had a good run, but I feel it has run it's course. Lets give it a few days, til the 2nd (that will be 4 months even) and see what folk think.

I don't see this being the "end" either, as I feel it should be done again in the future, but for now my opinion is that it is done for now.
 
Not enough people in the spirit. No reason to close it, though. Just let people offer when they want. One person will lead to others. As knife folks, we constantly evaluate whether or not we need an old knife now that we've bought this new one or that new one.
 
I agree with RemyKaze. No need to close it, things have just slowed down. During the holidays this thread was going even slower. It may die altogether someday, but I can't see that happening anytime soon.

I agree. I'm ducking out, but it would be nice to see this restored to its original spirit.
 
I know that I have been away from this for a while now. I ran into some financial difficulties and have not yet recovered. I do wish that I could participate again, and hopefully I will be able to again sometime in the near future.
 
Nalon still trying to get home to nj from NYC right now, but my wife said a package from Germany came. Thank you for that and the intriguing behind the scenes conversation!
 
Anyone in Michigan on here? I have things I'd pay forward but some things might cost more to ship than they are worth plus the weather kinda impedes my ability to go to the post office. If theres anyone on here in the UP then let me know.

Yeah man, sorry I didn't respond. The squirt is yours, I just haven't had time to get to the post yet this week. My class schedule is weird this semester.
 
I would like to see the thread carry on, it is a great idea and the spirit has been amazing. If it has run its course, however, it can be started again later. I am not participating in this incarnation, although i've been around since thread 1, just life/personal stuff going on I need to attend to. If it needs a rest, to be continued later with renewed vigor, i am on board. If it continues as is, equally awesome. My $.02
