Remy, if you don't take my Leek for parts... Well, I'll just send it to you and force you to take it. Make it easy on me and send me your address bud.

I have the leek parts Remy needs. Just found them while looking for more PIF items. It's a black leek btw. I would claim the modded leek if Remy doesn't want it and send the parts to him. If not that's ok with me too.

This sounds like a better plan to me. I'll PM both of you.

aha! Well I should have known that. But it's actually more of a thumb folder cuz your thumb holds the tang back. Lol. I was wondering if anyone had tried modding a svord to lockback with some sort of pin that would fit through the hole at the end of the tang. Sort of like a bracket lock.
Only if you hold it in a pinched grip. If you hold it like one would for most cutting tasks, the entire palm holds it in place. Very stable. It would be easy just to install a lock that holds it open when you activate it. Or to make it a fixed blade.

Yeah I'm referring more to the Mini, which holds better in a pinch grip. Either way I find to be a very stable knife. And it's for cutting not stabbing so there's never any concern of it closing on you. What kind of lock would you think would you think would work? I was thinking of some thing like a beveled pin that would slide into the hole in the tang as it came down and then Release with a button. I know it's silly to mess with such a simple design but it might be a fun project.

i like svords because they have no lock
at a certain point you might as well make your own knife, and that point is adding a lock to a friction folder.

Easiest thing to do is drill and pin a hole right below the end of the tang when open, and have a kind of guard/shield/latch that comes up and keeps the tang from moving. Beyond that, the ideas are endless, but I do believe that should be simplest. That's the same idea as an Opinel, using a metal piece to block movement.

Also, I'd like some input from my PIF buddies. I just had some good fortune on the job hunt, and would like to gift myself because I've basically been penny pinching. I'd like your thoughts on what seems like the better buy.

On the list is a Military, Delica, Endura, Rat 2, Zancudo, and Ritter Grip (small or large). Anything else I like is kinda out of price range, and these really do it for me anyway. Too bad I can't get that Cuscadi PM2 lol.

Out of those I would go military.

Congrats on the good fortune with the job hunt. I'm hoping for a call this week too so I know that drill. Anyway I don't own a Rat II yet but plan to get one sometime. It's obvious that it represents a fantastic value for the price. But if it were me I'd buy the Delica. Admittedly I'm partial to it because it was my "gateway knife"'back in the early/mid 90's. A fully serrated model that I still have today. I was also fortunate to buy a new orange scaled model a year or so ago when I was still working. The flat grind is so slicey, I love it. The weight is very light making it a great EDC knife. Lots of good choices on your list. Good luck.

I gotta say, 2 weeks ago (when I owned neither) if someone asked me zancudo vs. rat-2 I would of said zancudo all day, then I got a rat 2 (a gift from lionesser) and it was definitely the right choice!

If you want to splurge the military would be great as would any flavor of griptilian, but out of that list, best value is no doubt the rat-2!

Just want to point out, the rat-2 takes a standard (spyderco small pattern) clip so its easy to put a deep carry clip on it, the zancudo takes a pripority clip.

I love my Ritter mini grip, but if you go that route, you'll probably want to budget in some new scales (the only thing I don't like about it).

Ugh I know. Love the Ritter, so so about the handle. But I currently own a PM2 and no Benchmades, so it's a toss up between thay and the Military, which are the most expensive. The others are basically me looking for a small EDC for whenever it is needed. Also, I handled an m390 Barrage and loved it, but couldn't get down with the assist.

Bm has a whole line up of nice smallerish knives. Osborn, bone collector, sequel, mini presidio. Personally I gotta have at least one spydie hole knife and one axis lock always. Spyderco has the ergos down pat over everybody just because they have a handle for everyone. The axis lock is just pure joy though and a must have.

Send me a PM... I'll get the Leek to you and Remy will get his parts from you! Good stuff!

Just checking in and saying hello, hope all you guys are doing well!!

Just a little update, and recap for those not following along back then...

A while back superpaco asked if anyone needed bike parts so i asked for an inner tube for my bikes flat tire, what i got was a awesome bike, some tubes, a pump and a couple tools for the bike!! Then another generous member paid to ship it to me and get it assembled!! Just awesome. this bike is the best riding bike I ever rode! Thanks again guys!

I ended up replacing the tube on my other bike, a decent Shwinn still in nice shape and gave it to a lady down the street to give to her oldest son. She was just as happy as I was when i got this bike, which made me feel great!

here is a picture i snapped this morning of my sweet bike!! Thank you again guys I cant express my gratitude enough. i have put quite a few miles on this bad boy already!!

Awesome Woody!! Neat how it trickles down, huh? I often wonder how much of the "ripples in the pond" we never hear of or see. All we can do is act when we feel led. Good to hear from ya.

You can de-assist the Barrage, I have been thinking about an M390 mini Barrage
