Just checking in and saying hello, hope all you guys are doing well!!

Just a little update, and recap for those not following along back then...

A while back superpaco asked if anyone needed bike parts so i asked for an inner tube for my bikes flat tire, what i got was a awesome bike, some tubes, a pump and a couple tools for the bike!! Then another generous member paid to ship it to me and get it assembled!! Just awesome. this bike is the best riding bike I ever rode! Thanks again guys!

I ended up replacing the tube on my other bike, a decent Shwinn still in nice shape and gave it to a lady down the street to give to her oldest son. She was just as happy as I was when i got this bike, which made me feel great!

here is a picture i snapped this morning of my sweet bike!! Thank you again guys I cant express my gratitude enough. i have put quite a few miles on this bad boy already!!

So awesome, Woody! Congrats again  Be sure to chain it down whenever you're not on it!

No issues with detent? For what it's worth, the Ritters are way smoother out of the box than normal Grips.

Nope, the axis lock is a standard version, the only thing that makes it assisted is the spring. Just make sure that's what you want to do because it's nearly impossible to put it back should you decide to do it.
They don't use a torsion bar like a Kershaw, they use a coil spring.

I don't like the assisted Benchmades because, in my experience, they cause the lock to not engage properly. Plus the axis lock is so smooth and fast anyway, why would you need it.

I've got a partially serrated Military i'd be happy to send you to try out when i return your mini bushlore. Never used and could stand a good workout. Congrats on the job!

I actually removed the assist spring from my barrage on day #2 of ownership. The assist was blinding fast, but took too much effort to close. Now I can flip open & close w/ optimum smoothness

Easiest thing to do is drill and pin a hole right below the end of the tang when open, and have a kind of guard/shield/latch that comes up and keeps the tang from moving. Beyond that, the ideas are endless, but I do believe that should be simplest. That's the same idea as an Opinel, using a metal piece to block movement.

Also, I'd like some input from my PIF buddies. I just had some good fortune on the job hunt, and would like to gift myself because I've basically been penny pinching. I'd like your thoughts on what seems like the better buy.

On the list is a Military, Delica, Endura, Rat 2, Zancudo, and Ritter Grip (small or large). Anything else I like is kinda out of price range, and these really do it for me anyway. Too bad I can't get that Cuscadi PM2 lol.

Congrats Remy!

Thanks for the well wishes everyone. Whetstone, I wouldn't mind trying to get a feel for it. I handled one once at SMKW once only. I went yesterday to browse the local store, and as I always lament, they never buy the popular models. I couldn't just settle for second best lol.

Happy to, will include it with the mini bushlore in a week or so. I really like the mini btw, great steel, super easy to carry.

Im really glad you like it so much! The gearing and fit are good for you, I guess? This made me smile real big just now and I am so glad this bike went to a good home! Pedal hard and look both ways!

Only thing I don't like for EDC is the sheath. For leather I like danglers. For kydex I prefer it right up on my belt.

Hey quick question for all of you great people -- been eying a Dragonfly for some time now, but I can't decide between G10 and FRN, and beyond that I can't decide if it will fit my hand well enough and work for small EDC tasks for me. Anyone have one they would be willing to let me handle and try out before I drop dough on the little guy?

Thank you!

I'd be happy to lend you my FRN Salt and I also have a G10 of lionesser's (a second, not the moonglow one) that I could see if it was cool I could send them both to try out, I'll atlease send the salt tho.

I'll take it if no one else needs it. I will pay forward a kershaw chive. The chive has a little lock rock. Email me at editor@boardmancamera.com to claim.

Edit: Sorry, I'm traveling for a few more days, and I don't have a picture. I will post a pic in a few days.

I don't really know what kind of steel. A friend had the knife ready for handles, and I had just started working under him. This is one of the first knives I ever worked on, there is a mall gap on one side between the bottom scale and the turquoise (The clamps pulled it loose). I never finished it, if I had I would have probably sold it. It has sat on my shelf for about 2 years. I really liked the little knife, but without a sheath I never use it.

It's a stainless steel, not sure which one though.

A Justice:

I just wanted to make sure you saw that I had claimed this. I payed forward a Chive when I originally asked for it, which has now been claimed by Bodnar.

Please email me at editor@boardmancamera.com. Thanks!

Hey Remy, if you don't fancy the Mini-Grip scales, I'd recommend a Bone Collector with the walnut handle. Feels great, and their D2 is really nice. I wish I still had mine to send for you to try out, but I foolishly sold it some time ago.

I've heard good things about it. My PM2 has got me really spoiled haha. G10 and nested liners all the way. But that Ritter blade with some Cuscadi pants is just perfect.

Just a quick update.

Remy your leek parts are in the mail. I hope that your stepfather will like his new frankenleek.
BladeChick claimed the giant friction folder and it went out yesterday.
Still have the Gerber para frame if anybody wants it.

Thanks everyone,

Brian

Raindog your Tenacious is on it's way and should arrive before the end of the week. I'll PM you tracking if you'd like
